Eureka's Wagner, Principia's Sydness Earn First Player of the Week Honors
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the men's and women's basketball athletes of the week for the week of January 31-February 6.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Eureka College's Josh Wagner, a senior from
Roanoke, Ill. (Roanoke-Benson), has been named the SLIAC Men's
Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 31-February
6.
Wagner, a 6-7 forward, recorded his fifth career double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds as the Red Devils defeated Fontbonne University 84-76. He shot 8-of-16 (.500) from the field, while also dishing out two assists to lead Eureka to their first Conference win this season.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Principia College's Lindsay Sydness, a junior from
Wellesley Hills, Mass., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball
Player of the Week for the week of January 31-February 6.
Sydness, a 6-1 center, tallied 33 points on 13-of-17 (.765) shooting from the field to lead the Panthers in a hard-fought battle on the road at Blackburn. She added six rebounds, two assists, five blocks and one steal, while also shooting 7-of-8 (.875) from the charity stripe as Principia lost 65-61.
