Six Repeat as SLIAC Athletes of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the spring sports players of the week for the week of April 25-May 1.

BASEBALL - PITCHER
Principia College's Luke Ball, a freshman from Orlando, Fla. (Edgewater), has been named the Diamond Sports SLIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1. It marks the second time this season that he has earned the honor.

Ball, a 6-3 right-handed pitcher, recorded one win, one save, 10 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA in two appearances last week. He pitched 2.0 innings in relief and allowed two hits, no walks and struck out two batters to tally the save as Principia defeated Westminster College 8-5. Ball then threw a complete game, nine-inning shutout against Fontbonne University. He recorded eight strikeouts while allowing only two hits and three walks in the 4-0 victory.

BASEBALL - HITTER
Greenville College's David Massengill, a senior from Neoga, Ill., has been named the Diamond Sports SLIAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1.

Massengill, a 6-2 outfielder/pitcher, went 11-for-21 at the plate for a .524 batting average in five games played last week. He also scored nine runs and had six RBI and one home run.

Massengill recorded four multi-hit games, including going 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs and one home run in a 15-11 win over Principia College. He also added three hits and three runs in a 9-3 win also against Principia.

SOFTBALL - PITCHER
Blackburn College's Jessica Eichholz, a junior from Washington, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1. It marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Eichholz threw a complete game shutout in a 20-0 win versus MacMurray College. In 5.0 innings of work, she struck out six batters and allowed only one walk.

SOFTBALL - HITTER
Blackburn College Taylor Martin, a freshman from Sparta, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1.

Martin, a catcher, went 7-for-8 at the plate to help Blackburn sweep MacMurray College, 20-0, 17-4, last week. She went 4-for-4 with two doubles, one triple and eight RBI in game one of the double header. Martin finished with three hits, two doubles, one home run and four RBI in game two.

MEN'S TRACK
Principia College's Drew Clark, a junior from Hopkinton, Mass., has been named the SLIAC Men's Track Performer of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1. It marks the third consecutive week that he has earned the honor.

Clark won the 1500-meter and 800-meter runs at the SLIAC Invitational held in conjunction with the Illinois College True Blue Open with times of 4:01.8 and 1:52.0 respectively. He also anchored Principia's 4x400 team that placed third overall and second in the SLIAC Invitational with a time of 3:24.3. Clark posted a 49.74 split time in the relay.

MEN'S FIELD
Greenville College's Erwin Fridge, a freshman from Cahokia, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Men's Field Performer of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1. It marks the second time this season that he has earned the honor.

Fridge finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 44'9". He also placed seventh in the hammer throw after posting a throw of 144'5" at the SLIAC Invitational held in conjunction with the Illinois College True Blue Open.

WOMEN'S TRACK
Greenville College's Michelle Sutton, a senior from Springport, Mich. (Jackson), has been named the SLIAC Women's Track Performer of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1. It marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Sutton won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.83 at the SLIAC Invitational held in conjunction with the Illinois College True Blue Open. She also placed second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:53.95, and she was a member of the Panthers' 4x400 that placed third with a time of 4:15.53.

WOMEN'S FIELD
Greenville College's Kristen Schutte, a junior from Stewardson, Ill. (Stewardson-Strasburg), has been named the SLIAC Women's Field Performer of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1. It marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Schutte placed first and recorded a new school record with a mark of 128'8" in the javelin throw at the SLIAC Invitational held in conjunction with the Illinois College True Blue Open. She also placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 131'6".
