Athletes of the Week Announced for September 27-October 3

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Spalding University's Rizik Lado, a freshman from Louisville, Ky. (Central), has been named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

Lado posted a new school record in an 8K race with a time of 26:35.90 at the Greater Louisville Classic. He placed 101st out of 328 runners competing in the Blue Division, which was comprised of teams from NCAA Divisions I, II and III. Lado, who improved his best time by 35 seconds, led Spalding to a 28th place finish out of 34 teams in the Blue Division.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Principia College's Emily Osborne, a freshman from Shoreline, Wash. (Shorewood), has been named the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

Osborne ran a season best 6K time of 25:03.28 at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College. She placed seventh out of 145 total runners and was only 37 second behind the top performer. Principia finished 11th out of 19 teams competing.

MEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE
Webster University's Matt Mantia, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Webster Groves), has been named the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

Mantia, a midfielder, led the Gorloks to a 5-1 victory versus Spalding University with two goals and two assists, after heading into the week with only one goal and zero assists for the season. Webster went 1-1 last week, including a 3-0 loss at Greenville College.

MEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSIVE
Eureka College's Tyler Mumm, a freshman from Monticello, Ill., has been named the Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

Mumm, a goalkeeper, played just over 275 minutes in goal for the Red Devils last week. He allowed only three goals on 22 shots faced and posted a 2-0-1 record for the week. Mumm had two saves and allowed one goal in a 3-2 victory versus MacMurray College. He added one save and allowed one goal in a 3-1 win over Lincoln Christian University. Mumm ended the week by recording a career-high 16 saves in a 1-1 double overtime draw against Fontbonne University.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE
Fontbonne University's Robyn Meesey, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo. (Notre Dame), has been named the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

Meesey, a forward, recorded two hat tricks and scored in all three Fontbonne wins last week to finish with 14 points on the week. She had three goals, including the game-winner in a 5-1 victory versus Westminster College (Mo.). Meesey added one goal in a 2-1 non-conference win over Illinois College, while ending the week with three goals, including the game-winning goal, in a 8-0 shutout versus Eureka College.

Fontbonne improved to 5-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the SLIAC. The Griffins currently hold a five-game winning streak.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSIVE
Webster University's Emily Anderson, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Clayton), has been named the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

Anderson, a defender, helped lead the Gorloks to two wins last week - 3-1 over Greenville College and 7-0 over Spalding University.

"Emily's main responsibility is to man the top forward on each team and did a terrific job against Greenville and Spalding," said head coach Luigi Scire. "Her aggressive style and man marking ability were the keys to our defensive success."

VOLLEYBALL - OFFENSIVE
Principia College's Tara Edwards, a junior from Lake Forrest, Calif. (El Toro), has been named the Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

Edwards, a setter, recorded 81 set assists, 11 kills, 7 service aces and 22 digs in two matches played last week. She had 40 set assists, 12 digs, five kills and four service aces in a 3-2 victory versus Westminster College (Mo.). She posted 41 set assists, 10 digs, six kills and three service aces in a 3-1 non-conference win against St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

VOLLEYBALL - DEFENSIVE
Spalding University's Jessica Luker, a junior from Louisville, Ky. (Presentation Academy), has been named the Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 27-October 3.

Luker, a defensive specialist, recorded 76 digs total in three matches played last week. She had 23 digs and one service ace in a 3-1 win versus Westminster College. She added 34 digs and one kill in a 3-1 victory over Webster University, and Luker finished the week with 19 digs and one service ace in a 3-0 win against Blackburn College.
