Webster Men & Women Illinois-Bound for First Round NCAA Tourney Action

ST. LOUIS - The brackets are set! As announced on live webcasts by the NCAA, the Webster University men will travel to Augustana College and the women to Illinois Wesleyan University. The two teams, who both play on Friday, March 4, will only be separated by Interstate 74 in Illinois. Augustana is located north in the Quad Cities on the Mississippi River, 140 miles northeast of Wesleyan, located in Bloomington in central Illinois.

Both teams will face the #1 seed in their respective regions. The men will have its hands full with Augustana College, the champs (11-3) of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). The Vikings sport a 24-3 record overall and are ranked 6th nationally in NCAA III. Butressed by a pair of 6'9" forwards, Augustana out-rebounds its opponents by an average of eight boards a game.

The Webster University men faced one CCIW opponent this season, losing 84-80 to Illinois Wesleyan on November 29 at Grant Gymnasium. Ill. Wesleyan's men finished third in the CCIW with a 9-5 record. Webster and Augustana will meet at 7:30 p.m.

For the women, Illinois Wesleyan will provide a stern test as well. Also champs of the CCIW, the Titans (13-1 and 23-4 overall) are making their fifth straight NCAA appearance and avanced to the sweet sixteen last season and the elite eight in 2009. The Gorloks and Titans will meet at 7:00 p.m.
