Webster's Gibbs, Principia's Clark Repeat as Players of the Week

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Players of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

BASEBALL - PITCHER
Webster University's David Mueller, a senior from Webster Groves, Mo. (Westminster Christian Academy), has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Mueller, a 6-3 right-handed pitcher, threw a two-hit, complete game shutout against Blackburn College last week. He recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts and allowed no walks as the Gorloks won 10-0 in their first game of a three-game sweep over the Beavers.

BASEBALL - HITTER
Webster University's Tom Henke, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Lindbergh), has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Henke, a first baseman, hit .563 in four games played last week. He had nine hits, including four doubles and one home run, along with seven RBI. Henke went 2-for-4 with one double, one RBI and two RBI in a 10-0 victory versus Blackburn College. He also went 3-for-4 with one double, three RBI and three runs scored in a 15-1 win against Blackburn that completed a three-game sweep by the Gorloks.

MEN'S GOLF
Webster University's Tanner Rabb, a freshman from Zionsville, Ind., has been named the Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Rabb tied for 18th place out of 120 golfers at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. He shot a nine over par 153 with rounds of 75 and 78. After shooting a 72 in the first round of Webster's won Gorlok Invitational, Rabb finished with a 156 to place 29th out of 88 competitors. The Gorloks finished 8th out of 23 teams at Illinois Wesleyan and placed sixth overall at their own Invitational.

SOFTBALL - PITCHER
Greenville College's Jessica Laubecher, a freshman from McCordsville, Ind. (Mount Vernon Twp.), has been named the Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Laubecher retired 21 straight batters in game one of the Panthers double header versus Eureka College to record her first career perfect game. She struck out four batters and Greenville won 6-0. Laubecher came right back and threw a complete game in game two, giving up only one run on six hits and recording three strikeouts. Against Webster University she had a perfect game through five innings, and finished with six strikeouts and the 2-1 victory.

SOFTBALL - HITTER
Webster University's Taylor Gibbs, a freshman from Alton, Ill., has been named the Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 2-8. This is the second consecutive week that she has earned the honor.

Gibbs, a first baseman, had seven hits, seven RBI and two home runs in four games played last week. Her best outing was a two-hit, two-run and four RBI performance in a 14-5 win over Blackburn College. Gibbs also had a solo home run to score the lone run in Webster's 2-1 loss to Greenville. She then added one double and one RBI as the Gorloks defeated Greenville 6-0 to split the double header.

MEN'S TENNIS
Webster University's Josh Sellmeyer, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Mehlville), has been named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Sellmeyer won his 10th straight singles and doubles matches of the year and is currently undefeated (10-0) in both. In Webster's 8-1 victory versus Greenville College he won 6-0, 6-3 at #3 Singles and 8-6 at #3 Doubles.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Webster University's Allison Tungate, from Flora, Ill., has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Tungate shutout her competition at #2 Singles last week, winning both of her matches 6-0, 6-0 against both Blackburn College and Greenville College. She also posted a 9-8 (7-1) victory at #1 Doubles versus Greenville along with teammate and her sister, Paige Tungate. Allison has won 13 staight singles matches, compiling a 14-2 record on the season.

MEN'S TRACK
Principia College's Drew Clark, a senior from Hopkinton, Mass., has been named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 2-8. This is the second consecutive week that he has earned the honor.

Clark won the 800 meter at the Washington University Select Meet with a time of 1:52.87. He closed strong, chasing down a runner from Central (Iowa) who had established an early lead of nearly 50 meters. Clark's time now places him 7th nationally in NCAA Division III.

MEN'S FIELD
Spalding University's Kyle Jenkins, a freshman from Louisville, Ky. (Male), has been named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Jenkins placed first in the discus throw at the Bellarmine Invitational that included a field of mostly NCAA Division II schools. After posting a preliminary mark of 42.86 meters, he recorded a final throw of 50.86 meters to finish first out of 22 competitors.

WOMEN'S TRACK
Westminster College's Sarah Ogar, a sophomore from Mexico, Mo., has been named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Ogar finished 2nd out of 26 runners in the 800 meter at the Central Methodist Invitational. Her time of 2:22 also broke the Blue Jays' record, which Ogar had set last season.
