Spalding's Jenkins, Webster's Raab Repeat as Athletes of the Week

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Players of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

BASEBALL - PITCHER
Greenville College's Tyler Pilcher, a senior from Effingham, Ill., has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Pilcher, a left-handed pitcher, recorded 11 strikeouts in 7.0 innings on the mound in a 10-1 victory versus Principia College. He earned the win while allowing no runs and only one walk and two hits.

BASEBALL - HITTER
Spalding University's Bryan Clemmons, a senior from Louisville, Ky. (Seneca), has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Clemmons, a second baseman, went 8-for-12 (.667) at the plate in three games played last week. He was 3-for-4 with one double, one run scored, one RBI and one stolen base in a 3-1 win versus Fontbonne University. Clemmons then added four hits in four at-bats with one triple and five RBI as the Golden Eagles defeated Fontbonne 12-4. Clemmons also had one hit and two RBI in Spalding's lone loss for the week, an 8-3 loss to Fontbonne.

MEN'S GOLF
Webster University's Tanner Raab, a freshman from Zionsville, Ind., has been named the Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of April 9-15. This marks the second consecutive week that he has earned the honor.

Raab shot a 73 at the Weist Foundation Classic hosted by Millikin University to place second out of 62 golfers competing. His 73 was only one shot off the first place total of 72. Raab also placed 16th out of 53 individuals among high winds and rain at the Taylor University Invitational earlier in the week.

Webster placed third out of 13 teams at the Weist Foundation Classic and fifth out of 10 teams at the Taylor University Invitational.

SOFTBALL - PITCHER
Eureka College's Sarah Jesse, a junior from Mackinaw, Ill. (Bloomington), has been named the Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Jesse needed only 89 pitches to throw her 32nd career complete game in Eureka's 5-1 victory over MacMurray College. She scattered three hits and allowed only one earned run while striking out three and walking none.

SOFTBALL - HITTER
Eureka College's Kelli Dunne, a junior from Peoria, Ill. (Richwoods), has been named the Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Dunne, a second baseman, finished the week with a .857 batting average, one double, one triple, two runs scored and three RBIs in two games played. She went 2-for-3 with one RBI at the plate and fielded 100 percent with two putouts and five assists as the Red Devils defeated MacMurray College 5-1 in game one of a double header. Dunne put forth a 4-for-4 effort in game two, tallying one double, one triple and two RBI to help lead Eureka to an 11-3 victory in six innings.

MEN'S TENNIS
Webster University's Ricky Eaves, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (McCluer North), has been named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Eaves went 2-0 a #3 Singles last week with victories against NCAA Division II opponent Maryville University (Mo.) and SLIAC opponent Principia College. He won both matches in three sets, posting a 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 win against Maryville and a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win against Principia. Eaves also recorded an 8-5 win at #2 Doubles versus Principia and narrowly lost 9-8 in doubles action versus Maryville.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Principia College's Kelly Adams, a freshman from Plano, Texas, has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Adams posted decisive victories at #1 Singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Blackburn College and a 6-0, 6-2 victory versus Webster University. Her win in singles play against Webster was the lone singles point for Principia in the 7-2 loss. Adams and teammate Courtney Banko also paired to go 1-1 at #1 Doubles last week. They won 8-3 versus Blackburn and lost 8-3 versus Webster.

MEN'S TRACK
Principia College's Wylie Mangelsdorf, a sophomore from Palmer, Alaska, has been named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Mangelsdorf posted a time of 15:09.77 in the 5000m run at the Billiken Invitational. He and teammate Drew Clark paced the first half of the race, as Mangelsdorf finished the remainder of the race at a moderate pace.

MEN'S FIELD
Spalding University's Kyle Jenkins, a freshman from Louisville, Ky. (Male), has been named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 9-15. This marks the second consecutive week that he has earned the honor.

Jenkins won the discus throw with a mark of 49.55 meters at the Cumberland Invitational. Spalding posted a team finish of fifth out of 15 teams competing.

WOMEN'S TRACK
Webster University's Eroica Stackhouse, a sophomore from Tipton, Ind., has been named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Stackhouse set a Webster school record in the 5000m run with a time of 19:37.39 at the Billiken Invitational. She placed 13th out of 28 runners, topping her previous best time by more than 10 seconds.

WOMEN'S FIELD
Principia College's Lyssa Winslow, a freshman from Londonderry, N.H., has been named the Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Winslow posted a distance of 37.19 meters (122-0 feet) in the discus throw, and she placed second in the shot put, posting 11.25 meters (36-11 feet) at the Billiken Invitational.
