Westminster SAAC Takes the Plunge for Funds

Westminster SAAC Takes the Plunge for Funds

Fulton, Mo - Beginning this academic year, National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III student-athletes from across the United States have established an official partnership with local Special Olympics programs as part of a national community-outreach initiative. The partnership is being carried out through each school’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC).

The Westminster College SAAC sent representatives to St. Louis this past weekend to participate in the Polar Bear Plunge, a fundraiser for Missouri Special Olympics. This is not the first time that Westminster student-athletes have participated in the Polar Bear Plunge. In fact, Westminster student-athletes and student-athletes from other St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools adopted Special Olympics as an annual fundraising initiative a few years ago.

The February 4 Polar Bear Plunge is just one of many activities that Westminster and SLIAC student-athletes are involved in to raise funds and understanding for Special Olympics Missouri.
