Webster's Zehner Repeats as Women's Basketball Player of the Week
ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of December 31-January 6.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Eureka College's Dustin Fritsch, a senior
from Sterling, Ill., has been named the Men's Basketball Player of
the Week for the week of December 31-January 6.
Fritsch, a forward, led the Red Devils with 22 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high six assists in their 72-64 victory over Webster University. He shot 8-of-18 (.444) from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 (1.000) from the free throw line, while playing the entire 40 minutes.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Webster University's Maggie Zehner, a
senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Oakville), has been named the Women's
Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 31-January
6. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the
honor.
Zehner, a guard, averaged 19.5 points in two games played last week. She scored 19 points on 6-of-12 (.500) shooting from the field, 3-of-6 (.500) from behind the arc and 4-of-4 (1.000) from the charity stripe as Webster lost 85-61 to Southwestern (Texas) at home. She also had three rebounds, four assists and three steals in the loss. Zehner added 20 points, six rebounds and four assists in an 87-83 overtime victory on the road at Eureka College.
