Webster's Alarcon Named First Men's Tennis Player of the Week for 2013 Season

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the first men's tennis athlete of the week for the week of February 18-24.

Webster University's Diego Alarcon, a senior from Quito, Ecuador (American School), has been named the SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of February 18-24.

Alarcon posted a 2-1 record in singles play and 3-0 in doubles play last week. His one loss was at #1 singles, in which he dropped a 6-0, 6-4 decision to Alex Champierre of NCAA Division II opponent Maryville University (Mo.). His two singles victories were both at #2 singles, as he posted a 6-1, 7-5 win against North Central College and a 6-2, 6-0 win against Dominican University (Ill.).

Alarcon swept two of his doubles matches, winning 8-0 at #2 doubles against Maryville and 8-0 at #3 doubles against North Central. He also had an 8-3 victory at #3 doubles against Dominican.

Webster went 3-0 last week. The Gorloks defeated Maryville 7-2, North Central 8-1 and swept Dominican 9-0.
