Gorloks Perform Clean Sweep of Player of the Week Awards

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of March 4-10.

BASEBALL - HITTER
Webster University's Mike Rainbolt, a senior transfer from Kankakee, Ill. (Kankakee CC), has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 4-10.

Rainbolt, an outfielder, went 7-for-12 last week with three doubles, seven RBI and finished with a .583 batting average and .833 slugging percentage. He was 4-for-6 with five RBI, one double and one stolen base in a 10-1 victory over nationally ranked #1 Wheaton (Mass.). Rainbolt also went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in a 7-5 loss to Buena Vista.

BASEBALL - PITCHER
Webster University's Steven Dooley, a senior from Oran, Mo., has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 4-10.

Dooley started the week with a seven inning effort, allowing seven hits, two walks, three runs and striking out nine batters in a 8-1 loss to North Park University. Six days later he allowed just five hits, one run and struck out five batters in a nine inning complete game victory over nationally ranked #1 Wheaton College (Mass.). Dooley posted a 1.69 ERA for the week with 14 total strikeouts.

SOFTBALL - HITTER
Webster University's Kaytlin Burczak, a senior from Kankakee, Ill. (Bishop McNamara), has been named the Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 4-10.

Burczak, a catcher, tallied three doubles, three RBI and six total hits as she hit .333 at the plate through six games. She went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in a 4-2 win over Beloit College. Burczak then had a 1-for-2 performance with two runs scored and one double in a 5-0 victory versus Transylvania University. She was also perfect behind the plate with 14 putouts and two assists in 16 total chances.

The Gorloks finished 5-1 for the week with additional victories over Thomas More (7-0), Catholic (2-1) and Mt. St. Joseph (10-9). Their lone loss was a 3-1 decision to Muskingum University.

SOFTBALL - PITCHER
Webster University's Rachel Franck, a freshman from Florissant, Mo. (McCluer North), has been named the Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 4-10.

Franck recorded three wins in her collegiate debut this week for the Gorloks, including a no-hitter. She started off with a complete game, 4-2 victory versus Beloit College. She struck out five batters while allowing six hits, no walks and only one earned run. Franck followed that with a no-hitter against Catholic University, walking two and striking out four. Her final appearance for the week was a 10-9 win over Mt. St. Joseph in which she gave up six hits, two walks and struck out two batters. Franck finished the week with a 0.34 ERA in 20.2 innings on the mound and also had a total of 11 strikeouts.

MEN'S TENNIS
Webster University's Agustin Villalba, a senior from Quito, Ecuador (American School), has been named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 4-10.

Villalba lost only one game as he posted a 3-0 record in singles play for the week. He won 6-0, 6-1 at #3 Singles against Lindenwood University-Belleville. He also had a 6-0, 6-0 win at #3 Singles versus Illinois College and won 6-0, 6-0 at #1 Singles against Fontbonne University. Villalba's lone loss for the week was a 9-8 decision at #1 Doubles against Lindenwood-Belleville.

Webster won all three of its matches last week, shutting out Illinois College and Fontbonne, 9-0 each. The Gorloks also pulled off a 5-4 victory versus Lindenwood-Belleville.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Webster University's Lindsey Hays, a senior from St. Charles, Mo. (Francis Howell), has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 4-10.

Hays started off the 2013 Spring season with a 4-0 record. Playing at #1 Singles she defeated Lindenwood University-Belleville, 6-2, 6-3, and dominated over Fontbonne University, 6-1, 6-0. Hays also partnered with teammate Hilary Fitz to win at #1 Doubles. They posted an 8-2 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville and shutout Fontbonne 8-0.

The Gorloks won both matches last week by a score of 9-0.
