Spalding's Jenkins Repeats as Men's Field Athlete of the Week

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of March 25-31.

BASEBALL - HITTER
Greenville College's Ryan Smith, a sophomore from Affton, Mo., has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 25-31.

Smith batted .615 in three games played last week. He recorded eight hits, nine RBI, two homeruns, one double and finished the week with a 1.154 slugging percentage. Smith started the week by going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double in an 11-6 victory versus Blackburn College. He then went 2-for-4 with two homeruns and five RBI as the Panthers defeated Blackburn 6-4. Smith finished the week with a 3-for-4 performance, including two RBI in a 10-2 loss against the Beavers.

BASEBALL - PITCHER
Spalding University's Kyle Hudson, a senior from Herrin, Ill. (Rend Lake), has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 25-31.

Hudson, a right-handed pitcher, threw a complete game shutout against Westminster College (Mo.). In 7.0 innings on the mound he allowed only one hit and two walks, while striking out 10 batters.

SOFTBALL - HITTER
Spalding University's Hannah Stucker, a junior from Shelbyville, Ky. (Shelby County), has been named the Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 25-31.

Stucker hit .667 at the plate through four games played last week. She made plate appearances in three of the four games, going 2-for-3 in all three games. Stucker started the week with two hits, including one double and one run scored in an 11-4 loss to Hanover College. She then totaled four hits, four runs scored and three RBI to help lead the Golden Eagles to a double header sweep over Principia College, 14-3 and 9-4.

MEN'S TENNIS
Principia College's Jason Wissman, a sophomore from Westlake, Ohio, has been named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 25-31.

Wissman did not lose a game in two singles and two doubles matches last week. At #1 Singles he defeated Fontbonne University's Bryton Curtis, 6-0, 6-0, and Illinois College's Colin Ladd, 6-0, 6-0. Wissman and teammate Joey Sander partnered at #1 Doubles to win 8-0 versus both Fontbonne and Illinois College.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Webster University's Lindsey Hays, a senior from St. Charles, Mo. (Francis Howell), has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 25-31.

Hays defeated her opponent from Lindenwood University-Belleville at #1 Singles, 6-3, 6-4, to improve to 4-1 at #1 Singles. She also stayed perfect at 5-0 in doubles play with an 8-6 victory at #1 Doubles versus Lindenwood-Belleville.

MEN'S FIELD
Spalding University's Kyle Jenkins, a senior from Louisville, Ky. (Male), has been named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of March 25-31. This marks the second consecutive week that he has earned the honor.

Jenkins had three top 10 finishes at the Hanover Invitational. He placed first in the discus throw with a distance of 51.47 meters, which ranks in the top five in NCAA DIII. Jenkins also placed second in the shot put (14.47m) and third in the hammer throw (47.87m).

MEN'S TRACK
Eureka College's Austin Andrews, a freshman from Mackinaw, Ill. (Dee-Mack), has been named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of March 25-31.

Andrews anchored Eureka's 400-meter relay team at the Knox Outdoor Open that broke the 26-year old Red Devils' record with a time of 43.58 seconds, just 0.03 seconds behind Cornell College's winning time. He also placed second in his first collegiate 100-meter dash, finishing the race with a time of 11.30 seconds.

WOMEN'S TRACK
Webster University's Jenny Howard, a sophomore from Florissant, Mo. (Duchesne), has been named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of March 25-31.

Howard ran the 13th fastest time in NCAA DIII in the 100-meter dash this year with a time of 12.51 to finish third out of 58 runners at the Washington U. Invitational. She also placed 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.02. Howard's finished 17 places ahead of the next SLIAC runner in the 100m and 10 places ahead of the next SLIAC runner in the 200m.
