Fontbonne Sweeps Women's Soccer Players of the Week for October 8-14

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Spalding University's Haile Jemane, a senior from Louisville, Ky. (Central), has been named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Jemane placed 15th out of 380 runners at the Wilmington College Fall Classic. His time of 25:32.52 on the 8K course was the second fastest time in Golden Eagles' history and topped his personal best by 30 seconds. Spalding placed 16th overall out of 30 teams competing.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Webster University's Heather Heisse, a junior from Troy, Mo. (Buchanan), has been named the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Heisse posted a school record time of 23:28 on the 6K course at the Illinois College Invitational. It marked the second consecutive week that Heisse set a school record (last week on a 5K course). She placed sixth out of 74 runners and helped the Gorloks to a sixth place team finish out of 12 total teams competing.

MEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE
Westminster College's Jacob Appelbaum, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo. (Univ. of New Haven), has been named the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Appelbaum, a midfielder, scored the game-winning goal to lift the Blue Jays to a 1-0 overtime victory versus Webster University last week. The win improved Westminster's conference record to 3-1, and they currently sit in a tie for third place along with the Gorloks.

MEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSIVE
Webster University's Josh Sellmeyer, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Mehlville), has been named the Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Sellmeyer, a defender, was a stalwart on defense last week as the Gorloks split two games in SLIAC play. "Sellmeyer was a standout on defense," said Associate Head Coach Mike Siener. "He has been a key to the defense this season and particularly over the last five games, as they have allowed just one goal in that stretch."

WOMEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE
Fontbonne University's Erica Kaiping, a junior from Waterloo, Mo., has been named the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Kaiping, a forward, recorded three goals in two conference games last week. She had one goal in a 2-0 victory versus Greenville College. Kaiping added two goals, including the game-winning goal, as the Griffins defeated Spalding University 3-0.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSIVE
Fontbonne University's Paige Pfankuch, a freshman from Belleville, Ill. (O'Fallon Township), has been named the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

As a central defender, Pfankuch helped Fontbonne post two shutout victories last week. She is part of a defense that has not allowed an opponent goal in 289 straight minutes. Pfankuch also had one assist last week in the Griffins 3-0 victory versus Spalding University.

VOLLEYBALL - OFFENSIVE
Greenville College's Tricia Gall, a senior from Troy, Ill. (Triad), has been named the Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Gall, a middle blocker, recorded 40 kills and 12 blocks in three conference matches played last week. She had eight kills, six blocks and two service aces in a 3-0 loss to Webster University. Gall then tallied 20 kills and five blocks as Greenville defeated Spalding University 3-1. She finished the week with 12 kills, two service aces and one block in a 3-0 win over Westminster College (Mo.).

VOLLEYBALL - DEFENSIVE
Eureka College's Courtney Kincaid, a senior from Green Valley, Ill. (Midwest Central), has been named the Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Kincaid, a defensive specialist, totaled 62 digs for the week, including 55 digs in two SLIAC matches over the weekend. She had seven digs in a 3-0 non-conference loss to Lincoln Christian University. Kincaid then recorded 19 and 36 digs respectively as the Red Devils dropped a 3-0 decision to Westminster College (Mo.) and a 3-1 decision to Spalding University.
