Westminster College Athletics Administrator Moving On

Fulton, Mo. - Former Westminster College athletics director Terry Logue, who has been serving as associate athletics director, sports information director and instructor of sports management, has announced his retirement from athletics, effective August 31. But, Logue will continue to work. He has accepted a position as alumni relations/annual fund manager at his high school, Missouri Military Academy.

During his career, Logue has worked in sports reporting, coaching, sports media relations and play-by-play broadcasting, retail management, and institutional public relations. A 1976 graduate of Westminster, Logue earned a graduate degree in athletic administration in 1992 from the United States Sports Academy, and joined the Westminster athletic staff in 1995. He served as Westminster's first full-time sports information director and radio play-by-play voice for Blue Jay football prior to being named director of athletics in 1998.

As Westminster director of athletics from 1998-2004, Logue oversaw the reorganization and doubling of the staff. Other initiatives included the renovation of the field sports facilities and the installation of lights on four fields. A variety of fundraising and public relations initiatives were implemented, including the establishment of booster clubs, the development of the first athletics web site, and the establishment of the Westminster Intercollegiate Athletics Who's Who (now Hall of Fame), the first student-athlete advisory committee and a chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. Logue was active on the conference and national levels, having served as St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference information director and president. He edited the SLIAC History and Records Book from 1992-2006 and he completed a term on the NCAA Division III Budget Committee. To enhance his professional standing and continuing education, he held membership in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators, the College Sports Information Directors of America, and the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers.

Logue's six years as athletics director were extremely productive and one of the most successful periods for Blue Jay teams and student-athletes since Westminster joined the NCAA in the early 1990s. Blue Jay teams quickly became competitive and four teams advanced to NCAA tournament play for the first time in school history, including the baseball, men's soccer and volleyball teams. Seven of the head coaches who joined the staff during Logue's watch guided their teams to 21 conference titles and each earned conference coach of the year honors. More importantly, the student-athlete population grew steadily and Westminster student-athletes were recognized nationally for academics and community service. The list includes the school's first-ever CoSida Academic All-Americans, an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship recipient, and a CoSida Post-Graduate Scholarship winner. Additionally, Westminster received a series of educational enhancement grants from the NCAA and was recognized by the NADIIIAA for community service.

In the fall of 2004, Logue stepped down as director of athletics. He continued to serve his alma mater as associate director of athletics, sports information director and instructor of sports management. He assumed an expanded academic course load, teaching courses in athletic administration, sports history and sports sociology. Additionally, he handled a variety of compliance, game management and marketing tasks, in addition to overseeing sports information.
