SLIAC Players of the Week - Jan. 6
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced its Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week for January 6. This week's winners are William Barber, from Spalding University and Whitney Godden, from Iowa Wesleyan College.

MEN'S BASKETBALL William Barber is this week's SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Barber, a senior forward from New Albany, Ind., was an integral part of his team's 68-66 comeback win over Fontbonne. Trailing by 15 points with just five-minutes remaining in the game Barber helped spark the Golden Eagles come back by converting a three-point play, starting a 16-0 run. Then with the game tied at 66, Barber hit the game winning shot with 5.2 seconds on the clock to secure the Spalding win. He finished the game with 12 points and three rebounds, knocking down all three of his free-throw attempts. |

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Whitney Godden, a junior guard from Mattoon, Ill., is this week's SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Godden helped her team to an 86-81 win over Buena Vista this past weekend. In the win Godden scored a team high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting. With her team leading by just one point late, Godden knocked down a pair of free-throws to help put the game away. Godden hit on five of her eight three-point shots and added three rebounds and two assists in the game.
