SLIAC Players of the Week - Jan. 13

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced its Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week for January 13. This week's winners are Brady Slagle, from MacMurray College and Kelsey Shoemake, from Eureka College.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Brady Slagle, MacMurray College

Brady Slagle, a senior forward from Winchester, Ill., is this week's SLIAC Player of the Week. Slagle averaged a double-double in two conference outings this week, averaging 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Slagle put up 22 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in a win over Blackburn. He then followed two days later with 22 points, on 7-of-12 shooting, and eight rebounds against Spalding. This marks the second time this season Slagle has earned weekly honors.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Kelsey Shoemake, Eureka College

Kelsey Shoemake, a junior forward from East Peoria, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Player of the Week. Shoemake recorded a double-double in both of her outings on the week. She finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds against Spalding and then put up 20 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Fontbonne. For the week Shoemake averaged 20.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She finished the week shooting 60.7 percent from the field and 78-percent from the free-throw line. This is the second time this season Shoemake has earned Player of the Week honors.

SPECIAL MENTION

  • Karla Vietinghoff, Iowa Wesleyan (Women's Basketball) Vietinghoff poured in 35 points with seven three-point field goals in a win over Viterbo. She tied the school record for three's in a game and finished just two points shy of the school's single game scoring record.
