SLIAC Players of the Week - Jan. 20

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced its Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week for January 20. This week's winners are Larry Patterson, from Principia College, and Jessica Guy, from Spalding University.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Larry Patterson, Principia College

Larry Patterson, a senior guard from England, Ark., is this week's SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Patterson recorded back to back double-double's to close out the week including a 21 point effort in a win over Eureka. Patterson notched his first double-double of the week with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Webster. In that contest he also added three assists and four steals while hitting three three-pointers. He followed with 21 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in a 68-59 win over Eureka. In three games on the week Patterson averaged 15.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Jessica Guy, Spalding University

Jessica Guy, a junior forward from Louisville, Ky., is this week's SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Guy helped her team to a pair of conference wins last week, recording a double-double in both outings. Guy put up 20 points in a win over Greenville, finishing 8-of-13 shooting, while adding 11 rebounds and four steals. Against Fontbonne Guy scored 13 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and adding two assists and two blocked shots. On the week Guy averaged 16.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

SPECIAL MENTION

  • Kelsey Shoemake, Eureka College (Women's Basketball) Shoemake extended her double-double streak to five games in helping her team to three wins last week including handing the first conference loss of the season to then first-place Iowa Wesleyan. 
  • William Barber, Spalding University (Men's Basketball) Barber scored a career-high 34 points in an 80-72 win over Fontbonne. Barber was 13-of-17 shooting with seven three-point field goals.
