SLIAC Players of the Week - Feb. 10

It was a Westminster College sweep for the SLIAC Players of the Week this week. The Blue Jays' Joe James and Leigh Ann Lutz each received the weekly honors for Feb. 10.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Joe James, Westminster College

Joe James, a senior guard from St. Louis, Mo., is this week's SLIAC Player of the Week. James averaged 26.0 points per game in helping the Blue Jays to a pair of conference wins. Against Greenville James was 10-of-14 from the field, scoring 25 points, while adding four steals and three assists. He followed with 27 points in a 78-75 win over Fontbonne. In that contest he added five rebounds and four assists. For the week James averaged 26.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game. This marks the second time this season James has won the Player of the Week award.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Leigh Ann Lutz, Westminster College

Leigh Ann Lutz is this week's SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Lutz, a senior guard from California, Mo., guided her team to two wins while scoring over 20 points in both games. In her team's win over Greenville Lutz scored 25 points, going 5-of-9 from three-point range, while adding four steals. She netted 24 points in a win over Fontbonne, again knocking down five three-pointers, while adding three assists and three steals. For the week Lutz averaged 24.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game. Lutz also became the program's all-time scoring leader last week.

SPECIAL MENTIONS

  • Coley Baker, Greenville College (Women's Basketball) Baker put together a record setting performance in her team's overtime win over Blackburn. Baker recorded 14 points, 15 rebounds and 18 blocked shots; typing the NCAA Division III single game block record.
  • Caty Eeten, Eureka College (Women's Basketball) Eeten averaged a double-double for the week, averaging 21.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.
  • Jessica Guy, Spalding University (Women's Basketball) In a battle for the rights to host the SLIAC Tournament, Guy came up big with an 18 point and 18 rebound game in her team's win over Eureka.
  • Brady Slagle, MacMurray College (Men's Basketball) Slagle averaged a double-double last week at 22.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 62-percent from the field.
  • Ahmad Smith, Webster University (Men's Basketball) Smith poured in 31 points in his team's win over MacMurray. Smith was 13-of-18 from the field and added five steals.
