SLIAC Players of the Week - Feb. 24

 

MEN'S BASKETBALL
William Barber, Spalding University

William Barber, a senior from New Albany, Ind., is this week's Player of the Week after helping his team secure the top seed in the SLIAC Tournament. Barber put together back to back 20 point games including a buzzer beating 60-foot shot  to cap an 18-point comeback against Westminster. Barber came off the bench and went 8-of-12 shooting for 20 points in a win over Greenville. He followed with 20 points in the win over Westminster, addeing two steals. On the week he averaged 20.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. This marks the second time this season Barber has earned the weekly award.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Jessica Guy, Spalding University

Jessica Guy, a junior forward from Louisville, Ky., led her team to a pair of wins last week and capturing the top seed in the SLIAC Tournament. Guy started the week with 23 points and 19 rebounds in a win over MacMurray. She followed with 17 points and 13 rebounds against Greenville and 15 points and 11 rebounds against Westminster. On the week Guy averaged 18.3 points, 14.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 60-percent from the floor. This marks the second time this season Guy has earned weekly conference honors.

SPECIAL MENTIONS

  • Chris Davis, Blackburn College (Men's Basketball) Davis poured in 43 points, over half of his team's points, in a losing effort against Principia. Davis was 13-of-20 shooting and went 14-of-18 from the free-throw line.
  • Courtney Pursley, Webster University (Women's Basketball) Pursley had a pair of double-doubles last week averaging 18.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game. She had a high of 19 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Eureka.
