AROUND THE SLIAC
Blackburn's Shelby Smith exploded for 27 points in a win over
Principia last week. Smith finished the game 10-of-16 from the
floor and added seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks. On the
week she averaged 23.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in helping
her team to a pair of conference wins. |
Eureka's Caty Eeten become the SLIAC's all-time points leader for a women's basketball player. Eeten surpassed the previous mark of 1,688 by Christina Speer of Principia College. Eeten is currently averaging 20.4 points per game this season, tops in the conference. |
The Fontbonne women's basketball team returns home after a short two game road trip. The Griffins will host Spalding on Thursday before heading back to the road to face MacMurray on Saturday. The Griffins will be looking to snap a two game losing streak and hold an impressive 4-2 record at home this season. |
Greenville's Ron Harris was efficient on the court last week,
shooting 74-percent from the field. Harris was 14-of-19 on the
week. He scored 19 points against Fontbonne on 8-of-11 shooting and
followed with 18 points in win over Westminster on 6-of-8
shooting. |
Karla Vietinghoff poured in 35 points last week in a win over
Viterbo. Her point total was the second most in program history,
just two behind the record. In that game she knocked down seven
three-pointers, tying the school record for three's in a game. |
MacMurray senior forward Brady Slagle had a memorable weekend,
reaching multiple career milestones. Slagle joined the 1,000 point
mark, becoming the 22nd player in program history to reach the
plateau. He also reached the 100 steal and 500 rebound marks for
his career. |
The Principia men's basketball team had their two game winning
streak snapped on Tuesday in a loss to MacMurray. The Panthers will
look to add to their three wins this season with games against
Webster and Eureka later this week. |
Spalding junior forward Jessica Guy helped lead her team to a 65-55 win over Eureka College last week; recording a double-double. Guy finished the game with 22 points and 11 rebounds, adding two steals in the game. |
Kaliann Rickard had an impressive all around performance in her
team's win over Westminster last week. Rickard finished the game
with 16 points, on 6-of-8 shooting, while adding six assists and
five steals with four rebounds. |
Westminster senior Joe James reached the 1,000 point mark for his
career last week in a game against Webster. James tallied his
1,000th career point on a three-pointer early in the game and
finished the contest with eight points. |
