Lady Eagles Fall to Rhodes in NCAA First Round (March 8, 2014)
The Lady Eagles put up a good effort but lost their first NCAA tournament appearance to Rhodes College. The Lynx of Rhodes College defeated Spalding 83-59 Friday night, in Memphis, Tenn., as they host the 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament.....MORE

Titans Tip-Toe Past Gorloks (March 8, 2014)
Webster's 'David' narrowly fell to Illinois Wesleyan University's "Goliath", 71-70, in the NCAA III first round regional match up in Bloomington, IL, on March 7.  Webster entered into the game on Wesleyan's home court a heavy underdog to the #6 nationally ranked Titans, who needed two free throws with nine seconds left to nip the Gorloks.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

The Blackburn softball team had a busy first week as they headed to Myrtle Beach for a tournament. The Beavers faced a tough road as they will play a total of ten games in five days. They picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over Keystone.

The Eureka softball team headed to Myrtle Beach to kick off their 2014 season. They opened with a pair of wins in the first of eight games on the East Coast. They topped Baptist Bible 17-0 and followed with a 10-0 win over Hilbert.

After winning their season opener, 12-10 over Washington (Mo.), two weeks ago the Griffins returned to action last week with a split double header against Carthage. Jacob Becker picked up the Griffins win last week, going a full nine innings and allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out five.

Greenville picked up their third win of the young season with a 5-3 win over Medaille. The Panthers are currently 3-3 on the season and will continue play this week in Myrtle Beach with six more games on the schedule.
The Iowa Wesleyan women's basketball team capped their first season in the SLIAC with a regular season title. The Tigers then defeated Rochester 85-63 in the consolation game of the USCAA National Tournament.
The MacMurray baseball team picked up a 7-3 win over Ecclesia in their 2014 season opener. The Highlanders held off Eccelsia for the win, closing things out with three runs in the top of the ninth. They pounded out 15 hits in the game.
The Principia softball team started the season with a 6-3 win over Wesley as they competed in hte Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach. Casey Lee recorded the win while Christine Nacewicz and Jessyca McMullin each added two hits in the win.

After dropping their first two games of the season the Spalding baseball team got into the win column with a pair of wins, sweeping Millikin in a double header. Spalding pounded out 12 hits in a 15-1 win in game one with Matt West leading the way with five runs batted in. They reached double digits in hits in the second game as well with 10, winning 11-1.

The #8 ranked Webster Gorloks went 2-0 last week, including a 10-5 win over #10 Cortland State. Infielder Taylor Stoulp was named Diamond Sports/SLIAC Hitter of the Week. Stoulp led the Webster offense, hitting .625 on the week, while converting all 12 chances in the field.
The Westminster baseball team started the season strong with a pair of wins last week. The Blue Jays were led by Will Miller, who earned Diamond Sports/SLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors. Miller threw a complete game shutout, striking out seven and allowing just five hits in the game.
