Westminster Tops Women's Basketball Preseason Favorites (November 12, 2013)
On the heels of their third consecutive regular season SLIAC title the Westminster College Blue Jays are the 2013-14 Women's Basketball Preseason favorites as voted on by the league's coaches. The Blue Jays received 74 total points including five first-place votes.....MORE

Spalding Picked as Men's Basketball Preseason Favorites (November 13, 2013)
Spalding University has been picked as the 2013-14 SLIAC Men's Basketball Preseason favorites as voted on by the league coaches. Spalding received 73 total points and five first-place votes, marking the second consecutive year they have been tabbed as preseason favorites....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn's Shana Sewick was named to the 2013 SLIAC Women's Soccer All-Conference team, earning Second Team honors. Sewick, a goalkeeper, led the conference in saves with 192 and finished fourth with a .759 save percentage.

The Eureka women's basketball team is picked second in the 2013-14 SLIAC Preseason poll. The Red Devils picked up 67 total points including two first-place votes. They return eight players and four starters while bringing in new head coach Victoria Jones. They open the regular season Saturday, November 16 against Lawrence.

Fontbonne senior Zach Meyer was named the 2013 SLIAC Player of the Year. Meyer led the conference in scoring with 18 goals and two assists for 38 total points. He was also named First Team All-Conference and to the SLIAC All-Tournament team. Meyer is the third player in Fontbonne history to win the SLIAC Player of the Year honor.

The Panthers were well-represented on the SLIAC Volleyball All-Conference team, placing four players on the team. Corinne Coon and Jamie Schollenbruch were both named First Team while Ellen Lueking and Nicole Schaeffer were both named Second Team.
SLIAC Newcomers Iowa Wesleyan took on one of their home state's Division I schools when they faced Drake University in a men's basketball exhibition contest. The Tigers were led by Dion Lightner's 10 points. Their first regular season game is on Saturday, November 16th against Cornell College.
The MacMurray men's basketball team was picked second in the 2013-14 SLIAC preseason poll. The Highlanders are an experienced squad, with six seniors and four juniors, and will be led by D3 News Preseason All-American pick Clayton Whitlock.
The Principia volleyball team became the first #4 seed to knock out the top seed in the SLIAC Tournament in the opening round. The Panthers advanced to the SLIAC Tournament championship game before falling to Webster. Following the match Panther junior Tess Rountree was named the SLIAC Player of the Year.
The Golden Eagles men's basketball team was picked as the 2013-14 SLIAC Preseason favorites. It marks the second consecutive season they have been tabbed as preseason favorites. Spalding is the defending regular season and tournament champions.
Webster picked up two of three fall SLIAC Championships; winning both women's soccer and volleyball titles. The Gorloks actually had a team competing in all three championship games, with the men's soccer team falling in the men's soccer final.
The Westminster men's soccer team claimed its first-ever SLIAC Tournament championship with a 2-1 win over Webster in the Championship game. The Blue Jays picked up goals from Samuel Lopez and Jacob Appelbaum in the win. They will face Carelton in the first-round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
