the Week is a weekly feature that highlights a key match-up or

Westminster, Advance to Sweet 16 (November 18, 2013)
The
Westminster men's soccer team is heading to the NCAA Division III
Sweet 16 after a 1-0 shutout over Gustavus Adolphus College in the
second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday afternoon. The Westminster Blue Jays are
writing program history as the first team to make it to the Sweet
16 round of the NCAA Tournament......MORE
SLIAC Announces 2013 Fall
All-Academic Team (November 14, 2013)
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has
announced the members of the 2013 Fall All-Academic team. A total
of 155 student-athletes were named to the team, which consisted of
members from cross country, soccer and volleyball teams.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC
The Blackburn men's basketball team tested themselves early this
season, playing #5 ranked Wheaton College in their season opener
last weekend. The Beavers fell 78-46 to their nationally ranked
foe. The Beavers were led by Chris Davis with 21 points. |
Eureka women's basketball Head Coach Victoria Jones picked up her first win as the Red Devils head coach with a 51-48 win over Lawrence. Jones is the 10th head coach in program history and joins Eureka after serving the previous five years as an assistant coach at Murray State University. |
The Fontbonne women's basketball team got off to a strong start this season with a 64-59 win over Illinois College. Nicole Joerger led the Griffins with 17 points while freshman Lauren Willis tallied double figures in scoring with 11 points in her collegiate debut. |
The Greenville men's basketball team notched their first win of
the season with a 71-66 win over Elmhurst last weekend. Greenville
jumped out to an early lead and held a 34-19 edge at halftime. They
were led by Ron Harris' 14 point, 5 rebound and 3 steal
performance. |
The Tigers women's basketball team picked up a 66-59 win over
Waldorf in their season opener. The Tigers were led by Karla
Vietinghoff's 21 points. Vietinghoff went 8-of-11 from the field,
missing just three three point field goals while adding six
rebounds. |
MacMurray men's basketball players Brady Slagle and Dylan Burton
were named to the Cavallo Tipoff Classic All-Tournament team with
Slagle also earning Tournament MVP honors. Slagle averaged 24.5
points and 12 rebounds in two games. Burton shot 63-percent from
the field in the tournament, averaging 10 points. |
Principia men's basketball player Kenny Sydness is off to an
oustanding start to the season. Syndess scored 42 points while
adding six rebounds, seven assists, three blocked shots and four
steals in a loss to Knox College. The night before he recorded 23
points and eight rebounds in a loss to Illinois College. |
The Spalding women's basketball team wasted no time in jumping
into strong competition this season, facing #2 ranked Washington
University-St. Louis in their opener, falling 88-57. The Golden
Eagles jumped out to a 13-8 lead but were unable to hold on,.

Webster men's basketball player Kevin Miller had a strong return
to the program. Miller averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per
game in guiding his team during the Cavallo Tipoff Classic. For his
efforts Miller earned All-Tournament honors. |
The Westminster men's soccer team continued their post-season run
with wins in each of the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III
Tournament. The Blue Jays topped Carleton and Gustavus Adolphus by
identical 1-0 scores to advance to the Sweet 16. They are the first
SLIAC member to advance to the third round of the tournament since
1991. |
