SLIAC Players of the Week - Feb. 16

A pair of season high scoring performances led to Chris Fowler, from Iowa Wesleyan College, and Jessica Guy, from Spalding University, earning St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.

 

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chris Fowler, Iowa Wesleyan College

Fowler, a junior guard from Victorville, Calif., is this week's Player of the Week after leading his team to a 69-67 win over Fontbonne University. Fowler scored a game high 30 points in the overtime win, including knocking down the game winning jumper with 1:03 left in the overtime period. Fowler went 13-of-22 from the field while hitting a pair of three-pointers. Fowler added five rebounds, four assists, and four steals to help secure the victory for the Tigers. Iowa Wesleyan is now 11-8 overall this season and have four consecutive games.

 

 

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jessica Guy, Spalding University

Guy, a senior forward from Louisville, Ky., guided the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins last week, helping her team maintain their spot atop the SLIAC standings. Guy scored a season high 27 points in her team's win over St. Mary of the Woods. Guy was 11-of-15 from the field, adding five rebounds and four steals, in just 27 minutes of action. Guy followed with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four steals in just 22 minutes in a win over Principia. On the week Guy shot 75-percent from the field and averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game.
