SLIAC Players of the Week - May 4

The final SLIAC Players of the Week for the 2015 season are Justin Katich from Iowa Wesleyan College and Josh Fleming from Webster University.

Justin Katich, Iowa Wesleyan College

Katich, a junior outfielder from Knoxville, Iowa, closed out the 2015 season with a bang, helping his team pick up four wins on the week. Katich powered the Tiger offense, hitting .750 with two home runs and 15 runs batted in. He was 2-for-5 with six runs batted in during a double header against Lincoln Christian. Katich followed with a perfect day against Robert Morris-Springfield, going 7-for-7 in a double header with two home runs and nine RBI. Katich finished the week with a .688 on base percentage and a 1.750 slugging percentage with nine hits and four runs scored over four games.

 

DIAMOND SPORTS/SLIAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Josh Fleming, Webster University

Fleming, a freshman from Columbia, Ill., closed out his first collegiate regular season with a 3-0 shutout win over rival Fontbonne University. The win helped his team clinch the best record in the SLIAC this season. In the win Fleming went nine innings and allowed just four hits while striking out 12 and walking none. Fleming retired 16 straight batters at one point during the game and allowed just one runner to reach second base.

 

Other Notables:

  • Will Miller, Westminster College (Baseball) Miller picked up a win over Greenville last week, going eight innings and allowing no earned runs with three hits and nine strikeouts.
  • Dallen Russell, Principia College (Baseball) Russell pitched a complete game, one-hit shut out over Westminster, recording 13 strikeouts.
