Academic Honors Awarded to Track & Field Teams

The Webster University men's and women's track and field teams have been awarded All-Academic Team honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for 2013-14.  This is the first time the teams have been so honored by the USTFCCCA as both had a cumulative grade point average (GPA) above the minimum 3.10 required for eligibility.

The men's track and field team had a cumulative GPA of 3.23, the 46th highest of the 93 teams in the NCAA III that qualified for the award.  The women's team had a cumulative GPA of 3.11 and were one of 158 teams in the NCAA III to qualify in 2013-14.

The Webster men were one of two St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams to earn the award, with Principia College also honored.  Three SLIAC women's teams earned the award with Principia and Greenville College honored as well.  Principia represented the SLIAC well as it had the highest team GPAs for both the men's and women's teams in the NCAA III.

The USTFCCCA also gives individual All-Academic awards.  Though the Gorloks had team members with GPAs high enough to qualify, the individual also must finish in the top 35 for the year in the NCAA III, in time or distance in their particular event, to earn the award.
