Webster and Spalding Early Season SLIAC Favorites (January 28, 2015)
Webster University and Spalding University have been chosen as the favorites this season in the SLIAC preseason baseball poll as voted on by the league's coaches.....MORE

Fogerty Officially Inducted Into Fontbonne Hall of Fame (January 31, 2015)
Today at halftime of the men's basketball game against Spalding University, Director of Athletics Maria Eftink announced the induction of Brian Fogerty into the Fontbonne Athletic Hall of Fame. Fogerty, a 2009 graduate and only Fontbonne All-American.....MORE

Greenville Announces Upcoming Camps (February 2, 2015)
Greenville College head men's soccer coach Chris Swift has announced an upcoming Boys Elite Spring camp as well as Panther Academy Boys Elite Summer Residential camp.....MORE

Eureka Officially Names Thompson Women's Basketball Head Coach (February 3, 2015)
Eureka College President Dr. J. David Arnold announced this week that Steve Thompson has been named Eureka College's sixth women's basketball Head Coach.....MORE

SLIAC WINTER STANDINGS

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn women's basketball senior forward Brianna Rae continues to lead the SLIAC in scoring this season at 19.8 points per game. If she finishes the season as the conference's leading scorer it would be the first time the SLIAC scoring champ has come from Blackburn since the 2006-07 season when Meghan Polston averaged 20.1 points per game.

The Eureka women's basketball team continues to hold onto fourth place in the SLIAC standings. Although the Red Devils have dropped two straight games they maintained a two game lead over the next closest team (Greenville and Webster). However the Red Devils in essence are in third place as Iowa Wesleyan, tied for second, is not eligible for postseason play. The top four teams make the SLIAC tournament.

The Fontbonne women's basketball team are looking to stop a four game losing streak. The Griffins are at Greenville on Wednesday and host Principia on Saturday. Fontbonne defeated Greenville 59-52 earlier this season and topped Principia 58-56 in their first meeting this year. Fontbonne is currently 7-11 overall and 3-8 in the SLIAC.

The Panthers men's basketball team is coming off a 64-51 win over Westminster, maintaining their edge for the final spot into the SLIAC Tournament. Greenville is currently tied with Webster for third place with an SLIAC 8-4 record. Greenville will face Fontbonne and Eureka this week as they look to further secure their postseason position.

The Iowa Wesleyan women's hoops team handed Spalding their first conference loss this season, topping the Golden Eagles 76-68 last week. Rachel Williams led the way with 24 points and five assists, going 7-of-8 from the floor. Williams continued her performance into the next game with 16 points and eight assists in a win over Blackburn. For her efforts Williams was named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The MacMurray men's basketball team continues to be the hottest team in the league right now, with an eight game winning streak. The Highlanders went undefeated in the month of January, winning their games by an average of 11.3 points. They host Eureka on Wednesday before facing second place Spalding in Louisville on Saturday.

The Principia women's basketball team picked up their second consecutive win and have now won four of their last five games. The Panthers most recently knocked off Webster 58-57 on Tuesday night. Karla Johnson finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds while Rachel Perea added 17 points. Principia is now 9-9 overall and 4-8 in the SLIAC.

The Spalding men's basketball team not only saw their nine winning streak snapped last week but lost back to back games for just the second time this season. The Golden Eagles fell to Iowa Wesleyan and Fontbonne last week, dropping to second place in the standings. Spalding will host MacMurray on Saturday as they attempt to snap the losing streak.

The Gorlok women's basketball team is battling for the final spot in the SLIAC Tournament. The Gorloks are tied with Greenville at 5-7 in league play and are coming off a loss to Principia. Webster is at Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday as they look to get back into the win column.

The Blue Jays men's basketball team went 1-1 last week with a win over Principia and loss to Greenville. Brandon Moore led the Blue Jays with 16 points in the win over Principia while Tanner Gentges has a team high 15 points against Greenville. Westminster's game against Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday has been rescheduled due to weather. Their next contest will by Saturday at Blackburn.
