AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn's Victoria Bowens stood out in a loss to Eureka this week. Bowens was a force for Blackburn, finishing the match with 19 kills, 26 assists and seven digs. Marlee Lindstrom added a team high 18 digs in the loss.

Eureka volleyball picked up their second win of the season as they edged out Blackburn 3-2. The Red Devils rallied for a win after dropping the first two sets; taking the match 19-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 17-15. Michaela Balducci led Eureka with 20 kills while Emily Harrod added 20 digs. The Red Devils hit .270 as a team and finished with 21 total blocks.

Fontbonne women's soccer defender Paige Pfankuch was named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week this week after helping the Griffins to a pair of shutout wins. Pfankuch led the Griffins to a 1-0 win over Millikin, assisting on the game-winning goal, and closed out the week with a 8-0 win over MacMurray.

The Greenville volleyball team extended their winning streak to six matches with wins over Spalding, Westminster, and Principia last week. The Panthers are now 8-0 in conference play and stand at 13-5 overall this season. The Panthers put their undefeated record to the test this weekend when they will face Fontbonne and Iowa Wesleyan at Webster University on Saturday.
The Iowa Wesleyan men's golf team placed 6th in their most recent outing, the Central Shootout at Bos Laden Golf Course. The Tigers finished with a team score of 320. Michael Neff led the Tigers with a 77, placing 16th overall. Trent Hoekstra shot a 78 and finished tied for 17th in the field.
MacMurray recently hosted their Fall Invitational, placing fifth out of the six team field. The Highlanders shot a two day score of 646. Carroll and Fontbonne tied for first with a 635. MacMurray was led by Max Reiske with a 160 including a second round score of 76, and finished tied for ninth individually.
Principia men's soccer junior Kevin Silcox was named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week this week. Silcox paced the Panthers attack, scoring a goal in each of his team's games this week as they recorded their first wins of the season. Silcox scored the game winning goal in a 3-0 win over Rhodes and later in the week added a goal in their win over Eureka.

Dee Dee Sliter, a sophomore on the Spalding women's soccer team, was named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week this week. Sliter tallied seven points in two games this week with three goals and one assist. She scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist in her team's win over Greenville. She also notched a goal against Franklin earlier in the week.

The Webster volleyball team will host "Dig Pink" night tonight as they play host to #4 ranked Washington University at St. Louis and conference rival Fontbonne University. Webster faces Fontbonne at 6 p.m. and will face Washington University following the conclusion of that match.
Caroline Will was named the SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Blue Jays pick up their first win over Webster in 11 years. Will finished that match with 22 digs in a sweep of Webster and added 22 digs and five assists against #4 ranked Washington University at St. Louis. On the week she averaged 6.14 digs per set.
