SLIAC Welcomes Student-Athletes at Symposium
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recently held a symposium, welcoming student-athletes from around the conference as a way of preparing them to move from the playing field to the professional world.
The idea of the symposium came from discussion between SLIAC Commissioner Angie Morenz and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee; and was paid for by a grant through the NCAA. The symposium was open to junior and senior student-athletes from each conference member school and allowed for up to seven student-athletes and one staff member from each school to attend. In total members from four different member institutions took advantage of the symposium.
The SLIAC would like to thank all of those who attended as well as the speakers for the day which included: Laura Beaver, Fontbonne University; Luke Elders, Edward Jones; Anne Godman, MacMurray College; Andy Hannigan, The Hannigan Team Realty; Meg Langland, Westminster College; Amanda Lucas, Spalding University; Angie Morenz, SLIAC.
