This week's SLIAC Game of the Week features Fontbonne University and Webster University, as the cross town rivals square off in a key women's basketball conference game.

The Game of the Week features a SLIAC battle between Fontbonne University and Webster University, with campuses located just five miles apart, on Wednesday night in St. Louis, Mo. The two teams enter with the two longest active winning streaks in the conference; with Webster entering on a three game win streak and Fontbonne winning two straight. About Fontbonne
Fontbonne enters the game with a 3-7 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the SLIAC. The Griffins notched their first back to back wins last week with victories over Rust and Westminster.

Fontbonne is averaging 67.7 points per game this season, fourth most in the conference. The Griffins play an up tempo game, averaging a league high 64.6 shots per game while shooting 40-percent from the floor. They prefer to look inside as they are just ninth in three-point attempts.

Freshman forward Jessica Jordan is the team's top inside threat, averaging 12.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 54-percent. DeAmbra Pilkinton, a junior guard, is the team's top scorer at 14.1 points per game while junior guard Emmie Haring runs the offense; averaging 7.9 points and 4.9 assists per game.

About Webster
Webster is currently 6-5 overall and 3-1 in the SLIAC. Webster ended the calendar year with a win over Rust and have picked up a pair of SLIAC wins since the calender page turned, defeating Blackburn and Eureka.

The Gorloks are averaging 60.8 points per game, sixth in the SLIAC, and feature the fourth best scoring average defense. They are shooting just 35.9 percent from the field and are in the middle of the pack in three-point shooting. Their high pressure defense has led to a league best 11.5 steals per game this season.

It is a balanced attack for the Gorloks with seven players averaging 5.0 or more points per game. Leading the way is senior guard Ashley Brooks at 9.2 points per game. Sophomore Kelsey Miller is averaging 8.2 points per game and ranks sixth in the league with 22 steals.

  • Fontbonne leads the all-time series against Webster, 38-16 includinga  57-39 win in their last meeting on Feb. 11, 2015 
  • Webster is currently tied for second in the SLIAC standings while Fontbonne is in a four way tie for fourth place.
  • Fontbonne's Emmie Haring once again leads the conference in assists with 49. She led the conference last year as well and is looking to become the first repeat assist leader in the SLIAC since Greenville's Natalie Lappe in 2006-08.
  • Earlier this season Webster head coach Jordan Olufson recorded his 100th career coaching win. He currently ranks second in program history with 105 wins.
  • Did You Know? Fontbonne and Webster have made the two most appearances in SLIAC Tournament history. Fontbonne has made the tournament a league high 17 times while Webster is just behind at 16 appearances.
