SLIAC Players of the Week - April 18

This week's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week are: Tanner Branneky, from Westminster College; Jason Collingwood, from Greenville College; Chelsea Giles, from Greenville College; Blake Gocey, from Greenville College; Mitchell Hooten, from Greenville College; Alyssa Johnson, from Westminster College; Treyvon Manning, from Greenville College; Kelly Mundwiller, from Fontbonne University; Justine Roy, from Principia College; and Alexis Spriggs, from Webster University.

	SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK *TANNER BRANNEKY - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE* Tanner Branneky is the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week after leading the Blue Jays offense to a sweep of Eureka last weekend. Branneky, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., hit .636 on the week with two home runs and five runs batted in. He had at least two hits in all three games of the series, going 3-for-4 in the third and final game. Branneky finished the week 7-of-11 at the plate, recording a 1.455 slugging percentage. Branneky also scored three runs in the weekend series.
	SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK *JASON COLLINGWOOD - GREENVILLE COLLEGE* Jason Collingwood, a senior from Decatur, Ill., had a pair of standout relief performances for the Panthers last week in earning SLIAC/Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week honors. Collingwood picked a win and a save in his two appearances, not allowing a run. He entered in the seventh inning in game one against Spalding, going three innings and allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out three and notching the win. Collingwood then came on in the ninth inning, with one runner on, in game two and locked down the game for the save, recording one strikeout in one inning.
	SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK *ALYSSA JOHNSON - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE* Alyssa Johnson is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week after hitting .692 with two home runs and 10 runs batted in while helping the Blue Jays go 4-0 on the week. Johnson closed out the week with three straight three hit games. She was 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI in game two against Fontbonne, helping the Blue Jays wrap up a sweep of Fontbonne. She then went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI in game one against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week she was 9-for-13 at the plate, scoring three runs and finishing with a 1.231 slugging percentage.
	SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK *ALEXIS SPRIGGS - WEBSTER UNIVERSITY* Spriggs, a junior from Scott City, MO (Scott City HS), notched three wins and a save in four appearances last week. Spriggs picked up the win in an 8-3 victory over the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, going seven innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out three. She started and pitched four scoreless innings in an 8-0 (5 inn) win over Principia College, giving up just three hits and striking out four. Spriggs had a save in a 7-5 win over Spalding University, pitching 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to finish the contest. Spriggs came back in game two of the doubleheader vs. Spalding to record her third victory of the week, throwing all eight innings in a 4-3 win, allowing just two earned runs and striking out three
	SLIAC MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK *BLAKE GOCEY - GREENVILLE COLLEGE* Blake Gocey is this week's SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after going 3-1 on the week with two singles wins. Gocey picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at #4 singles over Westminster. Gocey added a 6-1, 6-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan, again at #4 singles. He also notched a win at #3 doubles against Illinois Wesleyan, winning 9-7.
	SLIAC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK *JUSTINE ROY - PRINCIPIA COLLEGE* Justine Roy is picks up SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors after recording three wins on the week. She racked up a 6-1, 6-4 win at #3 singles over Webster and then a 6-1, 6-1 win in the same spot over Westminster. Roy added a win at #3 doubles, teaming with Lena Carlson.
	SLIAC MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK *MITCHELL HOOTEN - GREENVILLE COLLEGE* This week's SLIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week is Mitchell Hooten from Greenville College. Hooten set personal bests in three events this week, claiming the season's top spot among SLIAC performers in two of the events. Hooten placed third at the Greenville Select in the discus, throwing a distance of 139'9"; more than four feet further than second place in the SLIAC performance list. He also took fourth at the event in the shot put with a distance of 48'1", ranking him atop the conference performance standings. Hooten had enough in him to also compete in the hammer throw, finishing with a mark of 133'7" which is sixth best in the SLIAC this season.
	SLIAC MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK *TREYVON MANNING - GREENVILLE COLLEGE* Treyvon Manning was busy this weekend at the Greenville Select, competing in four different events and claiming SLIAC Track Athlete of the Week honors. Manning placed second in all four events, finishing with season highs in three events. Manning took second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.30, the fastest time in the conference this year and a personal best. He also ranks first in the conference in the high jump after going 6'6" last weekend. Manning and his teammates also set season bests in the 4x100 (42.98 seconds) and 4X400 (3:22.33).
	SLIAC WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK *KELLY MUNDWILLER - FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY* Kelly Mundwiller claims SLIAC Field Athlete of the Week honors after taking third place in the javelin throw at the SIUE Gateway Invite. Mundwiller broke her own school record in the javelin, finishing with a distance of 103'5" and taking over the top spot on the conference performance list. She also competed in the hammer throw, placing 11th with a distance of 107'4".
	SLIAC WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK *CHELSEA GILES - GREENVILLE COLLEGE* Chelsea Giles ran a blistering pace in the 400 meter dash, highlighting her performance at the Greenville Select last weekend. Giles took first in the event with a time of 55.90, ranking her not only atop the SLIAC performance list but second in NCAA Division III. She also took second in the 4x100 with a time of 49.06 and was seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.58.

Conrad Bollinger, Principia College (Track and Field) Bollinger took first place in the pole vault at the Greenville Select, with a height of over 16 feet, ranking eighth in the nation.
Donalda Desir, Webster University (Track and Field) Desir set a school record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.24 and added a personal best in the 200 meter dash at 26:13.
Kerrigan Dura, Eureka College (Softball) Dura hit .524 with 10 RBI in six games last week, finishing 11-for-21 at the plate.
Chris Graham, Fontbonne University (Track and Field) Graham broke the school record in the hammer throw with a distance with 107'11".
Deion Hughes, Westminster College (Baseball) Hughes tallied 11 strikeouts in a seven inning win over Eureka.
Luke Jarvis, MacMurray College (Baseball) Jarvis picked up a nine inning complete game win over Principia, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out seven.
Travis Ralls, Greenville College (Baseball) Ralls hit .545 with five runs batted in during a three game series against Spalding.
Glenn Teubner, Westminster College (Track and Field) Teubner set a school record in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:23.29, finishing fourth at the Darrel Gourley Invite.
Trey Tigart, Webster University (Baseball) Tigart picked up two wins last week, going 14.1 innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out eight.
Kyle Uhrich, Webster University (Baseball) Uhrich powered out three home runs in a three game series against Fonbonne, driving in seven.
Ray Vogel, Eureka College (Baseball) Vogel hit .440 last week with four home runs and seven RBI in seven games on the week.
Carol Weiler, Webster University (Softball) Weiler hit .526 with six runs batted in while helping the Gorloks to six wins on the week.
