SLIAC Players of the Week - September 7
The 2015-16 collegiate sports season is fully under way with the announcement of the year's first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week. This week's winners are Alexa Boyer, Morgan Henry, Brandon Price, Maddie Redohl, Jamie Schollenbruch, Brier Skogsberg, Logan Spencer, and Drake Trease.

SLIAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK Brandon Pice, a junior from Lanesville, Ind., paced the Spalding team this past weekend while competing in the Belmont Opener in Nashville, Tenn. Price placed 3rd among Non-Division I runners with a time of 16:23 in the 5K meet with a 5:16 mile pace. He finished 12 seconds behind the Non-Division I winner.

SLIAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK Brier Skogsberg, a senior from Kirksville, Mo., captured a first place finish in the Panther Open hosted by Principia College. Skogsberg completed the 4K course with a time of 16:15, edging out 32 other runners. Her mile pace of 6:32 helped her finish nearly six seconds faster than the closest competitor.

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE) Drake Trease, a senior from Nixa, Mo., helped the Blue Jays to a pair of wins in the opening week of the season as he recorded two goals and two assists in three games. Trease notched his team's only goal in a loss to Millikin but responded with a goal and assist in a his team's win over Lakeland. He closed out the week with an assist in a 4-0 win over Illinois College. On the week Trease finished with six total points, putting five of 13 shots on goal. |

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE) Logan Spencer, a senior from Henderson, Ky., picked up a pair of wins in net last week for the Golden Eagles, holding a 1.60 goals against average. Spencer allowed four goals in three games, with two of the goals coming on penalty kicks. He totaled seven saves on the week including five against Mount St. Joseph. He finished with a .636 save percentage in 225-minutes of action on the week. |

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE) Morgan Henry, a sophomore from Camdenton, Mo., paced her team with three goals in three games, picking up two wins. Henry netted the game winning goal in her team's season opening contest, a 2-1 win over Millikin. In her next outing she tallied two goals in a win over Lakeland, giving her six total points on the week. Henry put thee of eight shots on goal on the week, with all three shots on goal finding the back of the net. |

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE) Maddie Redohl, a sophomore from Fenton, Mo., helped the Griffins get off to a strong start to the 2015 season, recording two wins. Redohl was the only Griffin to play every minute in all three games on the week, anchoring a defense that allowed just three goals. In addition Redohl added a goal of her own in her team's win over Southwestern (Texas).

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE) Alexa Boyer, a senior from Fairfield, Ill., helped the Highlanders pick up two wins in the Monmouth Tournament, and earned All-Tournament honors. Boyer averaged 7.91 assists per set through three matches, currently tops in the SLIAC. She piled up 38 assists in a 3-1 win over Principia. In the season opener Boyer not only set up the attack with 22 assists but finished with 11 kills of her own. She also added 27 digs on the week. |

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE) Jamie Schollenbruch, a senior from Decatur, Ill., was rolling at the end of the week, finishing two of her last three matches with 20 or more digs and missing a third by one dig. She had a high of 29 digs in a five set loss to MSOE. On the week she averaged 4.84 digs per set, totaling 121 digs in seven matches. Schollenbruch added 21 assists and three service aces on the week.

Other Notables:
- Jessica Diehl, Spalding University (Volleyball) Diehl put down 23 kills in a win over Hanover and later in the week added 14 kills and six total blocks against Transylvania.
- Sophia Hathaway, Principia College (Volleyball) Hathaway recorded a triple double in her team's win over Illinois College, finishing with 14 kills, 24 assists, and 10 digs.
- Amanda Kiso, Westminster College (Volleyball) Kiso recorded 18 kills, with just one error, in a 3-2 win over Wisconsin-Platteville last weekend.
- Valerie Martin, Webster University (Women's Cross Country) Competing against a field that was full of NCAA Division I and II competitors Martin led her team to the finish line for the seventh time in her career, finishing with a time of 20:07 in the 5K race.
- Madison Ratchford, Spalding University (Women's Soccer) Ratchford was busy in her team's win over Lakeland, recording two goals and two assists.
- Glenn Teubner, Westminster College (Men's Cross Country) Teubner placed 1st in the Principia Panther Open with a time of 16:43 in the 5k race.
- Brady Thomas, Eureka College (Men's Soccer) Thomas recorded a hat trick as his team edged out Lincoln Christian 4-3 for their season opening win.
