SLIAC Players of the Week - October 5

SLIAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
BRANDON PRICE - SPALDING UNIVERSITY

Price, a junior from Lanesville, Ind., helped his team to a fifth place finish in the Greater Louisville Classic meet last weekend. Price finished sixth individually, completing the 8K course in a time of 26:04. Price was among 348 runners competing and averaged a 5:14 mile pace. This is the second time this season Price has been named the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week.

SLIAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
VALERIE MARTIN - WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Martin, a junior from Webster Groves, Mo., picks up her second straight SLIAC Women's Cross Country Player of the Week award this week competing in the Greater Louisville Classic. Martin set a new career best time of 19:30, finishing 20th out of 365 runners. Martin's time was the second best in Webster history for a 5K race.

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE)
AUSTIN PIERCE - WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Pierce, a junior from O'Fallon, Mo., takes home SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors after rallying his team to a 3-2 conference win over Eureka. Pierce put the Gorloks up 2-1 in the game with a goal just before halftime. After the game was tied back up Pierce netted the game-winner at 87:57 to secure the victory for the Gorloks in regulation.

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE)
BLAKE HAUSMAN - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE

Hausman, a sophomore from Columbia, Mo., helped his team to a conference win over Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday. Hausman was part a defense that held their opponents to no shots in the contest. He also notched a goal in the win, which extends the Blue Jays winning streak to eight games.

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE)
CLARICE BRUCH - PRINCIPIA COLLEGE

Bruch, a sophomore from Bellevue, Wash., helped her team go undefeated last week with a win over Eureka and a tie against Spalding. Bruch tallied a goal in her team's road win over Eureka. In their win over Spalding, also on the road, Bruch recorded two goals on four shots, putting three on net. Both goals put Principia up at the time.

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE)
TYMBER GABBERT - GREENVILLE COLLEGE

Gabbert, a junior from Sedalia, Mo., was a stalwart on the backline for the Panthers last week in helping them record back to back shutouts. Gabbert marked both of her opponents leading scorers, limiting Illinois College top player to just one shot; including allowing just one total team shot in the final 65 minutes of the double overtime contest. Gabbert then shut down the SLIAC's second leading scorer, holding the Blackburn player to just one shot. On the week the Panther defense allowed just eight shots in 200 minutes of action.

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE)
SAVANNAH SELLS - GREENVILLE COLLEGE

Sells, a junior from Highland, Ill., led the Panthers to a 3-1 win over Webster in a SLIAC show down. Sells tied for the lead with 13 kills in the match, committing just three errors. She also added six digs and four total blocks including three block assists. Sells accounted for 15.5 points in the four sets, averaging 3.9 points per set. Sells and Grenville remain undefeated in conference play and have won 11 straight matches.

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE)
CIERRA HOWARD - IOWA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY

Howard, a junior from San Clemente, Calif., is this week's SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after her efforts in four matches last week. Howard finished with at least 20 digs in all four matches, totaling 106 digs through 15 sets; an average of 7.07 digs per set. She had a high of 30 digs in a five set loss to Fontbonne and helped her team to a 3-1 win over Blackburn by adding 28 digs. Howard currently leads the SLIAC in digs this season.
