SLIAC Players of the Week - December 14

This week's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week are: Brent Long, from MacMurray College; and Rachel Williams, from Iowa Wesleyan University.

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BRENT LONG - MacMURRAY COLLEGE

Long, a sophomore forward from Jacksonville, Ill., shouldered the load in a win over Principia last week, scoring a career high 29 points in just 24 minutes of action. Long was efficient in his limited playing time, going 12-of-13 from the field and adding five made free-throws. Long recorded six rebounds in the game along with one assist and one steal. Long is averaging 20.7 points per game this season, second best in the conference. He has four 20 point game this year and this marks the second time he has taken home the weekly award.

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RACHEL WILLIAMS - IOWA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY

Williams, a senior guard from Phoenix, Ariz., picks up her second consecutive Player of the Week award after leading the Tigers to a pair of wins last week including an overtime win over Westminster, a win that kept the Tigers as the only undefeated SLIAC team in conference play. Williams scored 18 points and dished out nine assists in a win over Mt. Mercy, accounting for 37 of her team's 49 points in the game. She followed with a career high 32 points in the win over Westminster, adding two assists. In two games she averaged 25.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.

  • Krista Armontrout, Westminster College (Women's Basketball) Armontrout recorded her third double-double this season, with 10 points and 12 rebounds against Iowa Wesleyan while adding six assists.
  • Tanner Cochran, Westminster College (Men's Basketball) Cochran dropped 26 points in a win over Iowa Wesleyan, adding six assists and two steals.
  • Kara Johnson, Principia College (Women's Basketball) Johnson tallied 37 points and nine rebounds in a win over MacMurray last Saturday, including making 13 free-throws.
  • Jared Greenlee, Fontbonne University (Men's Basketball) Greenlee stood out on both ends of the court, finishing with 15 points and six steals, as the Griffins topped Spalding.
  • Laura Goodnight, Greenville College (Women's Basketball) Goodnight tallied 29 points in a win over Blackburn, knocking down five three-pointers.
  • Julie Skaggs, Spalding University (Women's Basketball) Skaggs notched her first collegiate double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds as she led her team to a win over Fontbonne.
  • Hunter Ward, Webster University (Men's Basketball) Ward and the Gorloks came up just short in an upset bid over #20 Washington University; Ward finished with 12 points and six assists.
