Westminster SAAC Named Outstanding Philanthropic Program

The Westminster Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) was named the Outstanding Philanthropic Program at the annual Westminster Organizational Leadership Award Ceremony for their Coaches vs. Cancer event held on February 3, 2016 at the Women's and Men's basketball game.

The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in the Backer Dining Hall. The award is given to one or more campus groups for outstanding philanthropic commitment or service initiative on campus.

The Coaches vs. Cancer event was a part of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) and the American Cancer Society partnering for a conference wide Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser. SAAC raised $2,065.55 for the American Cancer Society. The Blue Jays sold t-shirts, added rememberance cards to a HOPE banner, sold raffles, honored cancer survivors at halftime and held a rememberance balloon release.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee was also nominated for the Outstanding Student Organization.
