Class of Five Inducted Into SLIAC Hall of Fame (Feb. 11, 2016)

Greenville's Barber Becomes Programs Career Leader In Wins (Feb. 12, 2016)
The Greenville College men's basketball program has seen its varsity team rise to the top of the SLIAC standings this season with wins over three first place teams, and its most recent win against Fontbonne has vaulted head coach George Barber to the number one position among all GC head men's basketball coaches with 211 career wins.....MORE

SLIAC Game of the Week: Eureka at Blackburn (February 16, 2016)
This week's SLIAC Game of the Week pits Eureka College and Blackburn College, two teams in the middle of the tightest race in SLIAC men's basketball history, against each other. Blackburn will host Eureka on Wednesday night in Carlinville, Ill. at 8 p.m.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn will hold 2016 Senior Night for both their men's and women's basketball teams on Wednesday against Eureka College. In addition to honoring their seniors Blackburn will have halftime games, raffles, and prizes. The women's team will honor their lone senior, Danae Smith while the men say goodbye to Colin Gowin, Henry Hicks, and Jamie Moore.
The Eureka men's basketball team is hoping the hot shooting Shea Feehan can help them make a late run and get into the SLIAC Tournament. Feehan has scored at least 30 points in three of his last four games as the Red Devils are at 8-8 in conference play. They are among eight teams battling for a postseason berth into the four team conference tournament and will face Blackburn and Greenville to conclude the regular season.
Fontbonne guard Emmie Haring continues to lead SLIAC women's basketball players in assists, with 137 total. This would be the second year in a row that Haring has led the conference in assists, marking just the sixth time that feat has been accomplished in conference history and the first time for a Griffin.
The Greenville women's basketball team secured a spot into the SLIAC Tournament last week by topping Fontbonne and Principia. Greenville is now 16-7 overall and 12-4 in the conference and will be the #2 seed in the tournament. This marks the second straight year the Panthers will advance to postseason play. They wrap up their regular season with games against Iowa Wesleyan (Wednesday) and Eureka (Saturday).

Iowa Wesleyan senior Kaylee Moseley was named the USCAA Player of the Week after helping the Tigers to two conference wins. Moseley averaged 15 points in the two games, shooting 47-percent from the field. Moseley is currently averaging 9.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game this season. Iowa Wesleyan is currently 17-6 overall and 12-4 in the SLIAC. They close out their regular season with games against Greenville (Wednesday) and Webster (Saturday).
The MacMurray men's basketball team has a chance to host the SLIAC Tournament. The Highlanders are 11-5 in the conference, tied with Greenville. MacMurray closes out the regular season with games against Westminster and Fontbonne, two teams they already defeated earlier this season. MacMurray has never hosted the tournament in its four team format and only twice have finished in first place out right, 1992-93 and 2000-01.
The Principia men's basketball team sent their seniors out in style on Tuesday night, picking up their first conference win of the season in their final home game. Principia defeated Fontbonne 85-75 behind 28 points from Justin Ball. The Panthers wish the best of luck to seniors Joey Sander, Steve Hammond, and Connor Savoye as well as student coach Larry Patterson.

The Spalding women's basketball team needs to stop a two game losing streak if they want to make the postseason. The Golden Eagles are 9-7 in conference play, tied with two other teams in a battle for the two remaining spots into the tournament. Spalding will face Webster and Blackburn to close out the regular season as they look to make their fourth consecutive SLIAC Tournament trip.
The Gorlok men's basketball team is still looking to finalize a position in the SLIAC Tournament. The Gorloks are 9-7 in conference play, tied with two other eligible teams and just one game ahead of two more teams. Webster concludes their regular season with games against Spalding and Iowa Wesleyan, whom they dropped the first meeting against this season.
The Westminster women's basketball team locked up hosting rights for the SLIAC Tournament by extending their winning streak to 14 games with two more wins last week. The Blue Jays are now 14-2 in the conference and will play host next week in the tournament on Friday and Saturday. This marks the first time the Blue Jays will host since the 2013 tournament, which they won.
