Westminster's Thompson Named NATA D3 Trainer of the Year (March 29, 2016)
The National Athletic Trainers' Association announced Westminster's head athletic trainer Josh Thompson, MED, ATC, LAT, CSCS as the 2016 NCAA Division III Head Athletic Trainer of the Year. He will receive the award on June 24 at the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Clinical Symposium in Baltimore, Md.....MORE
SLIAC Game of the Week: MacMurray at Eureka (March 29, 2016)
This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is a meeting between two of the top offensive teams in SLIAC softball, MacMurray College and Eureka College. MacMurray will visit Eureka on Thursday, March 31 for a SLIAC double header on the softball diamond, pitting the league's top hitting team (Eureka) against the third best hitting team (MacMurray). Game one is set for a 3:00 p.m. start in Eureka, Ill....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC
Blackburn baseball senior Matt Mokriakow became the program's all-time leader in runs batted in last weekend during a non-conference double header against Northland College. Mokriakow drove in two runs with a single in the fifth inning of game one of the double header, breaking the Beavers mark. Mokriakow is currently hitting .333 with 11 runs batted in this season and is a two-time First Team All-Conference performer. |

The Fontbonne softball team swept Division II opponent Lindenwood University in a double header on Tuesday, pushing the Griffins win streak to three games. The Griffins won game one 3-0 and took game two 9-8. Melanie Russo delivered all the Griffins would need in game one, with a solo home run as Madison Leonard picked up the win, going seven innings and striking out eight. Diamond Thomas picked up the win in game two as the Griffins scored the game-winning run on a squeeze play in the eighth inning. |
The Greenville baseball team powered their way to a 10-5 win over St. Norbert last Saturday. Leading the way was Mike Hardin, knocking out three home runs in the win. Trevor Montgomery and Shane Olmsted each added a long ball as Ryan Strohm notched the win for the Panthers. Greenville is now 6-13 overall this season and 1-2 in SLIAC play. They will face Principia in a conference game on Friday and Westminster in a double header on Saturday. |

MacMurray junior pitcher Luke Jarvis threw a no-hitter last weekend in a 1-0 win over Webster University. Jarvis went seven innings, allowing just two base runners the entire game; a hit by pitch and error. Jarvis recorded 10 strikeouts in the win and at one point retired 16 consecutive hitters. The lone run of the game came off the bat of Drew Johnson in the form of a solo home run in the top of the first inning. Jarvis, from Kankakee, Ill., was named the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week this week for his effort. |
The Principia softball team opens up 2016 SLIAC play this week with a pair of conference double headers. The Panthers are on the road Thursday to face Greenville College and then head north to Iowa Wesleyan University on Saturday. Principia is currently 2-10 overall this season and are led by A.C. McMullen, second in the SLIAC in batting average (.529) and Noelle Shoemake, first in the SLIAC in earned-run averge (1.43). |

It was mixed emotions for the Webster softball team on Monday in a double header split against Illinois College. The Gorloks picked up a 3-2 extra inning win in game one when Katelyn Johnson drove in Karissa Cardenas. The Gorloks appeared heading to a sweep, holding a 3-0 lead after three innings in game two. The Gorloks held a 5-3 lead heading into the seventh but an eight run inning by the Lady Blues erased the notion of a double header sweep by the Gorloks. |
The Westminster softball team is currently playing in California on their spring break. The Blue Jays opened the year with eight consecutive home games but now will embark on 13 straight games away from home, including their California games. The Blue Jays are 7-9 overall and will conclude their west coast trip with a game against Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday. The return this weekend for a double header against Eureka. |
