Dr. Faulkner To Receive Lee McKinney Distinguished Service Award (April 7, 2016)
Dr. Doug Faulkner has been named the 2016 recipient of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Lee McKinney Distinguished Service Award winner. Faulkner becomes the second consecutive, and third overall, recipient of the award from Greenville College.....MORE

SLIAC Game of the Week: Westminster at Webster (April 12, 2016)
This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is when Iowa Wesleyan University visits Westminster College in a softball double header on Saturday afternoon. This week will be the halfway point of the 2016 season and Iowa Wesleyan and Westminster are currently even at 3-3 in conference play, tied for fourth place in the SLIAC standings.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

The Beavers baseball team has two straight games, taking game three of a three game series against Principia and then defeating Lincoln Christian in a single game on Tuesday. Blackburn hosts Eureka in a double header on Wednesday and then will wrap up their non-conference portion of the schedule with a double header at Robert Morris-Peoria on Saturday.

Kerrigan Dura, a freshman on the Eureka softball team, was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Hitter of the Week. Dura hit .750, going 21-for-28 at the plate, with 17 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, a home run and 25 runs batted in. She also walked four times and didn't strike out in eight games. Dura already holds the Red Devils single season RBI mark with 46. Eureka has won a SLIAC best 14 straight games.

Griffin senior softball pitcher Madison Leonard tossed her first career no-hitter last week. Leonard made history in game one of a double header against Spalding last Saturday. She went all seven innings, setting a new career high with 15 strikeouts. Leonard now has nine wins on the season and ranks in the top three in the SLIAC in wins, strikeouts, and earned-run average.

The Greenville softball team extended their winning streak to seven games with a double header sweep of Blackburn on Tuesday. The Panthers are 12-12-1 overall this season and will face nationally ranked Washington University-St. Louis in a double header on Thursday. They will also host Eureka this Saturday and Westminster on Monday, concluding a 14 game home stand for the Panthers.

The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team got back into the win column with a 10-6 victory over Illinois College on Tuesday. The Tigers jumped all over the home team, scoring six runs in the first two innings. Katich led the way with two hits and three RBI including a home run. Mikolajewski came on in relief to pitch 1.2 innings, limiting the opponent to just two hits, while recording the save. The Tigers will host Principia in a double header this Saturday.

The MacMurray golf team placed second in the John McNaughton Memorial in Jacksonville, Ill. last week. The Highlanders shot a team score of 317, just five strokes behind the tournament champion. Tarryn Link paced the Highlanders with a 76, finishing third individually. Cory Cooper tied for seventh with a 78 while Zach Koonce and Logan Woolridge tied for 16th with an 80. The Highlanders next match will be next week in the SLIAC Championship.

For the second straight week Principia swept SLIAC Tennis Player of the Week honors. Paige Cooley took her second straight women's weekly honors after going undefeated in six matches including three wins at #1 singles. Julian Kitchingham claimed this week's men's award after notching four wins on the week including a battle at #2 singles over Westminster.

The Spalding baseball team had an eight game winning streak snapped last weekend, dropping the first two games of a three game series against MacMurray. The Golden Eagles return to the field on Wednesday with a non-conference game against Thomas More before hosting Greenville in a three game series this weekend. Spalding is currently 18-9 and in first-place in the SLIAC East Division with a 9-4 record.

The Gorloks softball team ended their five game losing streak by sweeping Blackburn in a double header last weekend. Webster hosts St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Wednesday and then plays host to Principia on Saturday and Spalding on Monday. The Gorloks are now 7-15 overall and 4-6 in the SLIAC.

Several Blue Jays had memorable weeks last week, starting with Collin Brinker being named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. Brinker, who earned SLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors, picked up a win over Webster going nine scoreless innings and striking out seven while allowing just two hits. His teammate Deion Hughes also set a new school mark for career complete games and softball player Erica Burney set a new Blue Jay record for runs batted in for a season.
