AROUND THE SLIAC
Blackburn freshman Christin Miller was named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after recording all four of her team's goals in a 4-2 win over MacMurray College. Miller netted three first-half goals, including the game winner. It marked her second hat trick this season and gives her 11 goals on the year. |
The Red Devil volleyball team is going through some growing pains. Eureka has just one junior and no seniors on their squad, with three of their top four hitters freshmen. Freshman Heather Robinson leads the team with 96 kills this season while second year players Meagan Hanney leads the team with 161 assists and Cassandra Beesley leads the team with 128 digs. Eureka is currently 2-12 overall and faces Robert Morris-Peoria, Principia, and Spalding this week. |
The Fontbonne women's soccer team picked up a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Millikin on Tuesday night. The Griffins took an early lead with a goal from Hannah Andrzejewski just six-minutes into the game. A second-half goal by Millikin tied the score up but the Griffins were able to pull out the win when Natalie Sipole scored from 30-yards out just seven minutes into the extra period. Taylor Pulvirenti made four saves in recording the win. |
The Greenville men's soccer team swept the SLIAC Men's Soccer weekly awards; with Jonny Madrid being named Offensive Player of the Week and Richie Hershkowitz being named Defensive Player of the Week. Madrid recored a hat trick in his team's 7-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan while Hershkowitz helped his team blank the Tigers, limiting them to just two shots including just one shot on goal. It marks the third consecutive shutout for the Panthers. |

MacMurray volleyball seniro Alycia Ferrari reached a milestone last week when she recorded her 1,000th career dig. Ferrari was recognized and presented with a game ball prior to her team's match against Fontbonne. Ferrari joins her teammate Alexa Boyer in the Highlanders 1,000 career dig club. |
Principia junior Shane Witters-Hicks was named the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week after a strong showing in the Brissman-Lundeen Invite hosted by Augustana College. Witters-Hicks completed the 8K course in a time of 25:42, with a 5:11 mile pace. He finished 36th out of 603 runners, setting a new personal best time. |

Webster junior Valerie Martin was named the SLIAC Women's Cross Country Player of the Week. Martin finished her 6K race in a time of 23:39, placing 46th overall. Martin maintained a 6:21 mile pace and finished with the best time in program history by a Gorlok at the long running event; the Brissman-Lundeen Invite. |
Westminster senior Lexi Collier had a memorable night on Tuesday, breaking two Blue Jays volleyball career records. Collier become the programs career leader in both kills and blocks. She now has 851 career kills and 271 career blocks. Collier is currently averaging 1.86 kills per set while hitting .354 this season with 12 total blocks. |
The Tiger men's soccer team picked up their second win of the season last week with a 3-0 win over Fairhaven Baptist Bible College. It marked the first shutout of the season for the Tigers as goalkeeper Josh Bonilla recorded 
Erin Downs, a senior on the Spalding volleyball team, was named SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Downs tallied 14 total blocks over four matches, including three conference wins. Downs currently leads the SLIAC in both total blocks and blocks per set. THIS WEEK'S SLIAC SCHEDULE
