AROUND THE SLIAC
The Blackburn men's soccer team recorded their first conference victory of the season last week, a 1-0 win over Eureka. The Beavers won the defensive battle which featured just four combined shots on goal, out shooting the Red Devils 9-8. The only goal of the contest came off the foot of Sam Lomanto at the 65-minute mark while Jordan Greene made one save in picking up the shutout win. |
The Red Devil volleyball team got back into the win column for the first time in a month when they defeated Robert Morris-Springfield 3-0 at home in a non-conference match. Eureka was led by Heather Robinson with six kills and five assists as the Red Devils took the match by the scores of 25-19, 25-14, and 25-18. Beth Mickna added six kills while Meagan Hanney finished with a team high eight assists. |
The Fontbonne cross country programs fielded full teams this past weekend as they competed in the Evansville Invitational. On the men's side Chris Brown set a personal best with a time of 28:50 while on the women's side Olivia Beggs finished 37th overall with a time of 20:28. Both teams finished ninth in the field of ten teams at the race. |
Last week Greenville senior Jamie Schollenbruch was recognized for reaching the 2,000 career dig mark. She accomplished the feat against Spalding on October 8th and currently has 2,074 career digs. The Greenville career record is held by Kerry Hammer with 2,261. Schollenbruch and the Panthers are currently in first place in the SLIAC and have won at least a share of the SLIAC regular season title for six consecutive years. |

Highlander senior Morgan Hauser was named the SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after two strong performances last week. Hauser totaled 40 kills in two matches including 21 kills against Principia. On the week she averaged 4.4 kills per set, hitting .330 with just seven errors. She averaged 4.8 points per set and added 21 digs. |
It has been quite the season for Principia's Shane Witters-Hicks as he claimed his third SLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week award this week. Witters-Hicks finished second out of 65 runners at the Illinois College Inviational last weekend. He completed the 8K course in a time of 26:44. |

The Gorlok men's soccer team has won four of their last five games and are coming off a win over MacMurray. The Gorloks are now 4-1-1 in SLIAC play and sit in third place in the conference standings, just ahead of Spalding. The Gorloks will face Spalding in a mid-week contest before closing out the week with a game against Iowa Wesleyan. |
The Westminster volleyball team had their 11 match win streak snapped in a 3-1 loss to #1 ranked Washington University-St. Louis on Tuesday night. The Blue Jays took the opening set of the match 25-18 but fell 25-16, 25-18, and 25-21 in the next three. After hitting .276 in the opening set the Blue Jays finished the match hitting just .116. During the match Hannah Marshall recorded her 100th career service ace. |
The Iowa Wesleyan golf team wrapped up their fall season last week with a performance in the 
The Spalding men's and women's soccer teams recently visited the Bluegrass Center for Autism last week, spending time with over 30 special needs kids.
