SLIAC Players of the Week - February 20

This week's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week are Aley Lucas, from Webster University and Steven Soukup, from Iowa Wesleyan University.

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEB. 20
STEVEN SOUKUP, IOWA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY

For the fourth time this season Steven Soukup will take home the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week award. Soukup, a senior guard for Iowa Wesleyan, closed out the regular season with impressive outings against Fontbonne and Eureka. Soukup finished with 28 points, eight rebounds, and three steals in a 108-82 win over Fontbonne. He then poured in 34 points, on 12-of-16 shooting, in an 84-82 win over Eureka; adding 10 rebounds and three assists. On the week Soukup averaged 31.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 65.6 percent from the floor.


SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEB. 20
ALEY LUCAS, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Aley Lucas, a junior forward, is the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Lucas, from Sullivan, Mo., led the Gorloks to a pair of conference wins last week in helping them wrap up the #3 seed in the upcoming SLIAC Tournament. Lucas finished with 11 points and five assists in just 15 minutes of action against MacMurray. She followed with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals in a rival game against Fontbonne. On the week Lucas averaged 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 53-percent from the field.

Other Notables:

  • Kerrigan Dura, Eureka College (Women's Basketball) Dura averaged 14.0 points and 7.0 assists in two wins last week.
  • Shea Feehan, Eureka College (Men's Basketball) Feehan tallied 37 points, with five three-pointers, against Iowa Wesleyan.
  • Trevaughn Goodman, Principia College (Men's Basketball) Goodman scored a career high 38 points in a win over first place Greenville College that helped Principia secure a playoff spot for the first time since 2005.
  • Kayla Horlacher, MacMurray College (Women's Basketball) Horlacher knocked down six three-pointers in a win over Robert Morris-Springfield.
  • Brent Long, MacMurray College (Men's Basketball) Long finished with 37 points, on 16-of-20 shooting, while grabbing 10 rebounds in a win over Robert Morris-Springfield.
  • Evan Milligan, Webster University (Men's Basketball) Milligan averaged 19.5 points per game in two conference wins last week while shooting 65-percent from the field.
