SLIAC Players of the Week - March 13

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week are Monica Behrle, of Webster University; Kerrigan Dura, of Eureka College; Kyle Olliges, of Spalding University; Chelsea Thornley, of Webster University; and Kyle Uhrich, of Webster University.

SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 13
KYLE UHRICH, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Webster University's Kyle Uhrich is the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Hitter of the Week for March 13. Uhrich, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., busted out at the plate last week in helping the Gorloks to a pair of wins. Uhrich hit .636 at the plate, going 7-for-11, with two home runs and eight runs batted in over three games. Uhrich picked up one hit against Benedictine, a double, with an RBI. He then recorded three hits in each of the next two games, with a home run in each contest. He drove in all three runs in Webster's 3-1 win over Wheaton and followed with a 3-for-4 day and four RBI in a win over Cornell.

SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 13
KYLE OLLIGES, SPALDING UNIVERSITY

Kyle Olliges, a senior pitcher for Spalding University, is the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Olliges, from Louisville, Ky., made two appearances on the mound during the week. He came out of the bullpen for a mid-week game against Transylvania, throwing one inning and striking out three. Olliges followed with a complete game, nine inning shutout win over #25 ranked Concordia (Ill.). In that win Olliges held batters to just six hits while striking out ten. On the week Olliges finished with a 0.90 earned-run average and 13 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched while allowing just eight hits.

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 13
KERRIGAN DURA, EUREKA COLLEGE

Kerrigan Dura, a sophomore infielder, is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week. Dura, who joined the Red Devils softball team less than 24 hours after playing for the basketball team, promptly hit .471 over six games in Myrtle Beach. Dura had three multi-hit games, driving in five runs and stealing one base. She also added two triples, both coming in an 18-4 win over John Jay. Her best game was her season debut, when she went 3-for-4 with two RBI in a 9-2 win over Hilbert. On the week she finished 8-for-17 at the plate with five runs scored and a .591 on-base percentage.

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 13
CHELSEA THORNLEY, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Chelsea Thornley is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Thornley, a junior for Webster University, recorded her fifth win of the season last week in helping the Gorloks to their best start to a season since 2000. Thornley went eight innings in a 5-3 win over Nebraska Wesleyan, allowing just one earned run on seven hits while striking out three. She also worked five innings, striking out six, against Bethel and threw two innings of hitless relief work against Millsaps. On the week Thornley finished with a 2.33 earned-run average with 9 strikeouts over 15 innings pitched.

SLIAC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 13
MONICA BEHRLE, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Monica Behrle, a junior from Atlanta, Ga., claims her second straight SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week award after notching two wins on the week. Playing in the #1 position for the Gorloks, Behrle registered an impressive come from behind win over Culver-Stockton. After dropping the opening set 6-3, Behrle blanked her opponent 6-0 in the second set. She closed out the match by winning 10-0 in a tiebreaker. Behrle also recorded an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles over Stockton.

  • Ed Bargman, Principia College (Baseball) Bargman hit .538 last week, helping the Panthers to three wins, and did not strike out as the Panthers lead-off hitter.
  • Josh Fleming, Webster University (Baseball) Fleming picked up a complete game win over Wheaton, allowing just five hits while striking out 11.
  • Dillon Sievert, Spalding University (Baseball) Sievert hit .529 with seven runs batted in and nine hits over five games last week. 
  • Alex Stamos, Principia College (Baseball) Stamos picked up a complete game win over Crowley's Ridge, allowing just three hits and no earned runs while striking out five.
