SLIAC Players of the Week - March 27

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week are Caleb Clemons, from Webster University; Kali George, from Eureka College; Meghan Illig, from Webster University; Madaline Kane, from Eureka College; Jonathan Stepp, from Blackburn College; Raven Venegas, from Fontbonne University; Ray Vogel, from Eureka College; and Jamie York, from Webster University.

	SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27 RAY VOGEL, EUREKA COLLEGE Ray Vogel, a junior infielder, from Eureka College is the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week. Vogel, from Bartonville, Ill., put together back to back four-hit games while hitting .667 with four home runs and nine runs batted in on the week. He finished 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI against Division I Bradley University, which followed a 4-for-5, 2 home run and 4 RBI game against Blackburn. On the week Vogel was 8-for-12 at the plate and added four runs scored.
	SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27 JONATHAN STEPP, BLACKBURN COLLEGE Jonathan Stepp from Blackburn College grabs a hold of the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week award after putting his name into the Beavers record book. Stepp, a sophomore from Georgetown, Texas, became the first pitcher in Beaver baseball history to record a no-hitter. Stepp went seven innings in a 7-0 win over Eureka, allowing no hits while walking just one batter and striking out six.
	SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27 MADALINE KANE, EUREKA COLLEGE Madaline Kane, from Eureka College, is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for March 27. Kane led the Red Devils offense to 19 runs in a double header sweep of Robert Morris-Springfield. Kane, a sophomore from Havana, Ill., finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate with five runs batted in. She picked was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI in game one and followed in game two by going 2-for-2 with a run scored and three RBI. She finishes the week with a batting average of .750 and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
	SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27 KALI GEORGE, EUREKA COLLEGE Kali George is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. George, a junior from East Peoria, Ill., picked up a shutout win for Eureka in game one of a double header against Robert Morris-Springfield. George worked five scoreless innings in the win, allowing just four hits while striking out five.
	SLIAC MEN'S FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27 JAMIE YORK, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY Jamie York is the SLIAC Men's Field Player of the Week after an impressive debut for the Gorloks in the outdoor track season. York, a freshman from Troy, Mo., had two top five finishes including a first-place finish at Culver-Stockton. York placed first in the hammer throw with a distance of 41.93 meters. He actually topped that throw earlier in the week, 44.27 meters, at Rhodes where he finished 5th and setting a Webster record. York also set a school record in the discus at Rhodes with a distance of 35.58 meters.
	SLIAC MEN'S TRACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27 CALEB CLEMONS, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY Caleb Clemons, from Webster University, takes home the first SLIAC Men's Track Player of the Week award this season. Clemons, a sophomore from Florissant, Mo., set a Webster program record in the 100-meter dash last week. Clemons finished with a time of 10.76 seconds, placing him eighth in the field, and giving him the top time in Division III so far this season. Clemons also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.46 seconds, second fastest among Division III runners.
	SLIAC WOMEN'S FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27 RAVEN VENEGAS, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY Raven Venegas begins her outdoor season as the SLIAC Women's Field Player of the Week. Venegas, a freshman from Racine, Wis., competed in three events at two meets last week, with a top three finish in the discus. Venegas took second place in the discus at the Falcon Classic, throwing a distance of 35.22 meters. She also notched a mark of 12.19 meters in the shot put at Rhodes, the 21st best mark this season in Division III. Venegas just missed a top ten finish in the hammer throw at the Falcon Classic with a mark of 37.26 meters.
	SLIAC WOMEN'S TRACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27 MEGHAN ILLIG, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY Meghan Illig is the SLIAC Women's Track Player of the Week after three top three finishes last week for the Gorloks. Illig, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., took second place in the 100-meter hurdles at Culver-Stockton, finishing in a time of 15.74 seconds. She actually had a better time of 15.47 seconds at the Rhodes Invitational, where she placed third, setting a school record. Illig also took third place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.45, a Webster record, at Rhodes.

Ethan Borrowman, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Borrowman hit .538 over three games last week, driving in six and scoring three runs.
Zoe Burton, Webster University (Track and Field) Burton set a school record in the discus with a distance of 35.60 meters.
Austin Christian, Iowa Wesleyan University (Baseball) Christian notched a win over Blackburn, working 8 2/3 innings and allowing no earned runs and just five hits.
Josie Cotter, Westminster College (Softball) Cotter notched three hits and five runs batted in during a sweep of St. Joseph (Connecticut).
Josh Fleming, Webster University (Baseball) Fleming picked up a complete game win over Greenville, throwing 7 2/3 innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out eight.
Courtney Kedroski, Fontbonne University (Softball) Kedroski hit .400 over eight games during the Griffins spring break trip, picking up a hit in all eight games to extend her hitting streak to 12 games.
Jimi Keating, Spalding University (Baseball) Keating worked seven scoreless innings, striking out 10 and allowing just four hits in a win over Westminster.
Cory Steinhart, MacMurray College (Baseball) Steinhart recorded a win over Iowa Wesleyan, allowing just one hit while striking out seven through seven innings.
Katie Suiters, Spalding University (Track and Field) Suiters had two top five finishes last week, placing third in the discus and fourth in the shot put at the Pioneer Spring Invitational.
