SLIAC Players of the Week - April 10

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week are Brianna Anderson, from Greenville College; Caleb Clemons, from Webster University; Alyssa Feldewert, from Webster University; Josh Fleming, from Webster University; Kyle Goessler, from Webster University; Lindsey Hubbard, from Spalding University; Meghan Illig, from Webster University; Mariana Rogers, from Fontbonne University; Greg Sovie, from Principia College; and Ryan Schocker, from Fontbonne University.

 

SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
RYAN SCHOCKER, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY

Ryan Schocker, from Fontbonne University, is the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week. Schocker, a junior from Schaumburg, Ill., led a potent Griffin offense that scored 43 runs over six games last week. He hit .520 on the week with two home runs and 13 runs batted, going 13-of-25 at the plate. Schocker recorded a hit in all six games and drove in at least one run in five of the games. He had four multi-hit games including a high of four hits in a win over MacMurray. Schocker added a grand slam home run against Spalding for the winning runs as well.


SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
JOSH FLEMING, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Josh Fleming is this week's SLIAC/Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week. Fleming, a junior at Webster University, recorded a pair of conference wins last week to move to 4-0 on the season. Fleming started the week with six scoreless innings of one-hit ball in a win over MacMurray, striking out nine. He followed with seven innings of work against Iowa Wesleyan, holding the Tigers to just one run and two hits while striking out nine. On the week Fleming recorded a 0.69 earned-run average over 13 innings pitched, striking out 18 while walking none and allowing just three hits.


SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
LINDSEY HUBBARD, SPALDING UNIVERSITY

This week's SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week is Lindsey Hubbard, a sophomore infielder from Spalding University. Hubbard set the table for the Golden Eagles offense last week, hitting .739 over six games. At one point during the week she recorded hits in 14 straight at bats, just three shy of the NCAA Division III record. Hubbard had three four-hit games on the week, scoring a total of eight runs while also recording four stolen bases. She finished the week going 17-of-23 at the plate and added a .952 fielding percentage.


SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
BRIANNA ANDERSON, GREENVILLE COLLEGE

Brianna Anderson picks up the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week award after notching a pair of conference wins in the circle last week for Greenville. Anderson, a senior from Geff, Ill., came on in relief of the first game of a doubleheader against MacMurray, throwing 2 1/3 innings and allowing no hits while striking out six. She followed up with a win in game two, working five scoreless innings and allowing just one hit while striking out six. On the week she threw 7 1/3 innings of scoreless ball while striking out 12 and allowing just one hit.


SLIAC MEN'S FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
KYLE GOESSLER, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Kyle Goessler is the SLIAC Men's Field Player of the Week after breaking the Webster school record in the long jump. Goessler, a freshman from Imperial, Mo., jumped 6.49 meters, the third best mark in the SLIAC this season, placing seventh at the Big Blue Invite.

 

SLIAC MEN'S TRACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
CALEB CLEMONS, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Caleb Clemons picks up his second SLIAC Men's Track Player of the Week award this season. Clemons, a sophomore from Florissant, Mo., set a SLIAC best time in the 100-meter dash this past weekend, with a time of 10.58 seconds. That mark was good for second place at the Millikin Big Blue Invite.

SLIAC WOMEN'S FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
ALYSSA FELDEWERT, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY
 

Alyssa Feldewert, of Webster University, is the SLIAC Women's Field Player of the Week. Competing in both the javelin and discus Feldewert was able to pick up two top seven finishes. She placed first in the javelin, with a distance of 35.06 meters, the longest throw this season among SLIAC competitors. She placed seventh in the discus with a distance of 27.80 meters at the Big Blue Invite.

MEGHAN ILLIG, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Meghan Illig is the SLIAC Women's Track Player of the Week after two first-place finishes at the Big Blue Invite. Illig, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., took first in both the 100 meter and 400-meter hurdles, setting school records in both events. She finished the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.41 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.56 seconds.

SLIAC MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
GREG SOVIE, PRINCIPIA COLLEGE

Greg Sovie, a freshman at Principia College, is the SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Sovie, from Maggie Valley, N.C., won all four matches on the week, including both of his singles matches. Sovie, playing at #2 singles, topped his opponents 6-1, 6-0 in both outings. He added an 8-5 win over Westminster and an 8-2 win over Webster in #1 doubles play.

SLIAC WOMEN'S Tennis PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10
MARIANA ROGERS, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY

Mariana Rogers is the SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week after putting together a memorable week for the Fontbonne University team. Rogers picked up four singles wins including three coming against conference opponents. Playing in the top spot, Rogers swept Blackburn, helping mark the first known sweep by a Griffin against a conference member in program history. Rogers also played #1 doubles, where she added two more wins.

  • Merideth Bartley, Spalding University (Track and Field) Bartley set a school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.16 seconds.
  • Tanner Branneky, Westminster College (Baseball) Branneky picked up four hits, with two home runs, and six runs batted in during a doubleheader sweep of Principia.
  • Abby Burroughs, Webster University (Softball) Burroughs notched two four-hit games last week, finishing with three home runs and eight RBI in six games.
  • Connor Coyne, Principia College (Baseball) Coyne was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in a win over Eureka.
  • Kali George, Eureka College (Softball) George struck out 10 batters in a losing effort against Iowa Wesleyan, allowing just two runs in seven innings.
  • Pete Hasenmueller, Westminster College (Men's Tennis) Hasenmueller picked up three singles wins last week, with one coming at #2 singles.
  • Brittany Hodge, Westminster College (Softball) Hodge reached base four times, with two runs scored and two runs batted in, during a doubleheader sweep of Eureka.
  • Sam Huesgen, Westminster College (Baseball) Huesgen picking up a win over Principia, working seven scoreless innings and allowing just four hits while striking out nine.
  • Clay Kelly, Spalding University (Baseball) Kelly hit .563 with six runs scored and five RBI while helping the Golden Eagles to three conference wins last week.
  • Adam Lamb, Greenville College (Baseball) Lamb recorded a complete game shutout against Blackburn, going seven innings and allowing just six hits.
  • Shannon McCaul, Westminster College (Track and Field) McCaul placed first in both the 800-meter race and the 3000-meter steeplechase at the CMU Invite.
  • Emelia Modglin, Fontbonne University (Softball) Modglin recorded eight hits and nine runs batted in during four conference games last week, all wins.
  • Travis Ralls, Greenville College (Baseball) Ralls hit .579 with seven RBI over five games last week including a walk-off single in a win over Fontbonne.
  • Tiffany Samsoe, Greenville College (Softball) Samsoe went 6-for-7 with a pair of home runs and six runs batted in during a doubleheader sweep of MacMurray.
  • Alexis Spriggs, Webster University (Softball) Spriggs recorded three wins in the circle last week for Webster, including two complete game victories.
  • Alex Stamos, Principia College (Baseball) Stamos recorded a win over Eureka, going nine innings and allowing just one run on four hits.
  • Katie Suiters, Spalding University (Track and Field) Suiters set a new school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 33.35 meters.
  • Shane Witters-Hicks, Principia College (Track and Field) Witters-Hicks took first-place in the 5000-meter race at the Big Blue Invite with a time of 15:32.
  • Matt Wollnik, Webster University (Baseball) Wollnik went 3-for-4 with four RBI in a win over Iowa Wesleyan, finishing the doubleheader with five hits.
