SLIAC Players of the Week - September 19

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week include Charles Dalton, from Greenville College; Cierra Howard, from Iowa Wesleyan University; Jessie Kuykendall, from Westminster College; Hannah Marshall, from Westminster College; Bernardo Oseguera, from MacMurray College; Tayler Pulvirenti, from Fontbonne University; Lyndi Saccaro, from MacMurray College; and Glenn Teubner, from Westminster College.


SLIAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
GLENN TEUBNER - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE

Glenn Teubner, from Westminster College; ran a personal best over the weekend to grab SLIAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week honors. Teubner, a junior from Jefferson City, Mo., finished second individually at the Southern Stampede Invitational hosted by Missouri Southern State University. Teubner was the top finisher among attached runners in a field of 153. He finished the 8K course with a time of 26:16; nearly 10 seconds faster than the closest competitor.

 


SLIAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
JESSIE KUYKENDALL - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE

Jessie Kuykendall is this week's SLIAC Women's Cross Country Player of the Week. Kuykendall, a sophomore at Westminster College, placed third overall at the Missouri Southern Stampede Invitational. She finished the 5K race with a time of 18:45, setting both a personal record and a new Blue Jay program mark. Kuykendall competed in a field of 149 runners and helped the Blue Jays to a 10th place finish as a team in a field of 17 teams. This marks the second time this season she has earned SLIAC Player of the Week honors.

 


SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE)
BERNARDO OSEGUERA - MacMURRAY COLLEGE

MacMurray College's Bernardo Oseguera is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Oseguera shined in a 6-0 win over Central Christian College. Oseguera started the game's scoring at the 34-minute mark. He added a second goal just six minutes later and finished the game with four goals on just five shots. He is currently tied for the conference lead in goals this season with five.

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE)
CHARLES DALTON - GREENVILLE COLLEGE

Charles Dalton, a sophomore from Greenville College, is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Dalton anchored the Panther backline that allowed just one goal while recording two wins last week. Dalton played all 182 minutes on the week, limiting opponents to just seven shots on goal in the two games. Dalton was key in preventing the opposition from setting up by winning several battles in the air.

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE)
LYNDI SACCARO - MacMURRAY COLLEGE

Lyndi Saccaro, from MacMurray College, is this week's SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Saccaro, a junior from Rochester, Ill., helped the Highlanders pick up their second win on the season by scoring four goals in her team's 5-4 overtime win over Mount Mary. Saccaro tallied a natural hat trick, scoring the game's first three goals in the first 18-minutes of action. The Highlanders need the foot of Saccaro again late, as she scored the game tying goal in the 77th minute to force overtime where the Highlanders eventually grabbed the win. Saccaro scored her four goals on five shots.

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE)
TAYLER PULVIRENTI - FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY

Fontbonne's Tayler Pulvirenti is the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Pulvirenti, a senior from Collinsville, Ill., was stellar last week for the Griffins as she made 10 combined saves in two contests. Pulvirenti made two stops in her team's 6-0 win over Stephens, playing 81-minutes in net before giving way. She then kept the Griffins in the game against undefeated Knox, making eight saves before suffering a 1-0 loss. On the week Pulvirenti finished with a .909 save percentage.

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OFFENSIVE)
HANNAH MARSHALL - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE

A record setting performance helped Westminster College's Hannah Marshall take home a second consecutive SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week award. Marshall put down a school record 27 kills in her team's win over Spalding. Earlier in the week she added 12 kills in a win over Eureka and 13 kills in a win over Principia. On the week Marshall finished with 52 kills, averaging 4.73 kills per set. She hit .291 and chipped in with 2.18 digs per set while averaging 5.0 points per set.

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (DEFENSIVE)
CIERRA HOWARD - IOWA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY

Cierra Howard grabs her second straight SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week award after tallying 113 digs in four matches last week. Howard helped the Tigers go 2-2 on the week, averaging 7.06 digs per set. Showing her importance to the Tigers her two biggest performances came in the Tigers' two wins, recording 36 digs in each of the wins. Howard added 22 digs against Greenville and 19 against Grinnell.

 

Other Notables:

  • Zach Gyuricza, Webster University (Men's Soccer) Gyuricza tallied two goals to get the Gorloks back into the game in a 3-2 loss to #16 Luther College.
  • Kornell Hilliard, Spalding University (Men's Soccer) Hilliard carried the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 come from behind win over Franklin; netting the tying goal at the 75-minute mark and scoring the game winner just 14-seconds into overtime.
  • Cassandra Schwamborn, Iowa Wesleyan (Volleyball) Schwamborn recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 18 digs in a five set win over MacMurray.
  • Savannah Sells, Greenville College (Volleyball) Sells was a force at the net; averaging 3.7 kills and 2.0 blocks per set in three wins for Greenville.
  • Emily Tippetts, Principia College (Volleyball) Tippetts recorded 14 kills while hitting .481 in her team's win over Spalding.
