The final SLIAC Game of the Week for the men's basketball regular season puts it all on the line for two teams when Principia College visits Greenville College. Principia is currently in a three way tie in the standings in a battle for one of the two final spots in the conference tournament.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

	The Blackburn men's basketball team picked up a key win over Webster last weekend as they are in search of their first postseason appearance since 2006. Blackburn is currently 9-7 in conference play and are battling against Principia (10-7) and Webster (9-7) for one of two final spots into the SLIAC Tournament. The Beavers face Spalding and Greenville this week. The Beavers hold a tiebreaker with Principia but do not against Webster.
	During a historical conference game over the weekend, with Greenville edging out Eureka 149-146, the Red Devils Shea Feehan put together a historical individual performance. The two teams combined for a new conference record for most points in a game, surpassing the previous mark they set just over a month ago. Feehan meanwhile recorded a triple-double in the game with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. He is the first Red Devil to register a triple-double since Seth Wickert in 2015.
	It was a memorable senior day for the Fontbonne women's basketball team last weekend. Not only did the Griffins honor their two seniors (Emmie Haring and Lauren Willis) but the Griffins clinched a berth into the SLIAC Tournament in a 76-71 come from behind victory over Spalding. This will be the first time the Griffins have made the postseason since the 2012 season. They are currently 13-10 overall and will close out the regualr season with road games against Iowa Wesleyan and Webster.
	Greenville College's Michael Hohm reached the 1,000 point mark for his career on Saturday, while helping the Panthers to move into first-place in the SLIAC standings after a 149-146 win over Eureka College. Hohm finished the game with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting with one three-pointer. He added seven steals in the game. This season Hohm is averaging 14.3 points per game while leading the conference with 66 steals. Hohm, a senior guard, has a total of 1,001 career points in his four years with the Panthers.
	With some help the Tigers men's basketball team could still claim a share of the SLIAC regular season title for the first time in program history. The Tigers are currently in third place but if Greenville and Westminster drop one game this week and the Tigers win their final two games all three teams would finish tied. Iowa Wesleyan will face Fontbonne and Eureka to close out their season.
	It was a rare late season non-conference game for the MacMurray College men's basketball team on Monday night. The Highlanders defeated Robert Morris 98-68, pulling away with 52 point in the second-half. MacMurray shot 59-percent from the field in the game while holding their opponent to just 35-percent. Brent Long led the way with 37 point and 10 rebounds while Derek Bourke added 16 points and Marshall Corbin finished with 10 points.
	The Principia men's basketball team continues to impress with their season on the line. Once again the Panthers picked up another must win game, defeating Greenville 117-101 on Tuesday night, ending the Panthers seven game winning streak and keeping Principia in the hunt for a postseason berth. Principia's TreVaughn Goodman led the way with 38 points while Parker Davidson finished with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Principia faces another must win game when they host Westminster on Saturday at 2 p.m.
	The Spalding men's and women's basketball teams will wrap up their 2016-17 seasons with games against Blackburn and MacMurray this week including their home finale against the Highlanders on Saturday. The men's team is 4-20 this season while the women are 11-11 overall. Senior Nick Trisko is averaging 17.5 points and 12.2 rebounds per game for the men while the women have been led by Alex Martin, 13.4 points per game.
	The Webster women's basketball team secured a spot into the SLIAC Tournament with a 96-49 win over Blackburn last Saturday. The Gorloks jumped out to a 19-4 lead at the start of the game and cruised to victory after putting up 38 points in the second quarter alone. Jade Sawyer paced Webster with 17 points in just 13 minutes of action while Taylor Lucas finished with 12 points and Ebony Bailey added 10 points. Webster is now 17-6 overall this season and will face MacMurray and Fontbonne this week to wrap up the regular season.
	Andrea Zalis, a senior at Westminster College, was named CoSIDA Academic All-District, becoming the sixth player in program history to earn the honor. Zalis, majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, holds a grade-point average of 3.93 and is currently averaging 17.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season. She is the first Westminster Blue Jay to earn the award since Kasey Gatson was honored in the 2015-16 season....for the full story click HERE
