FINAL SLIAC WINTER STANDINGS

AROUND THE SLIAC

	Blackburn sophomore Jonathan Stepp recorded the first ever no-hitter in Beaver baseball history last week. Stepp went all seven innings in a 7-0 win over Eureka, allowing no hits and walking just one. Stepp recorded six strikeouts in the game as just a total of three Red Devils reached base (two errors and one walk).
	The Red Devil softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against North Central on Tuesday afternoon, winning game one 5-1 and falling in game two 10-1. Eureka's Kali George limited North Central to just one run over seven innings to help secure the Red Devils first win over a CCIW opponent since 2003. Eureka is now 7-5 overall this season.
	The Fontbonne University tennis teams picked up wins this week as they get their spring season underway. The men's team defeated Concordia Seminary 5-4 for their first win this spring. Sebastian Culton, Blake Wisniewski, and Zac Ridenhour all picked up wins. The women's team topped Blackburn 8-1, marking the first time the Griffins have recorded eight points in a match since 2007-08.
	The Greenville men's track and field team placed third overall at the Washington-St. Louis mini-meet. The Panthers were paced by wins from Andrew Sharp and Jarrid Williams. Sharp picked up a win in the 800-meter race, finishing with a time of 1:56.75. Williams notched a win in the triple jump with a distance of 14.17 meters.
	Tanner Anderson etched his named into the Tigers baseball record books when he went 3-for-7 in a doubleheader sweep of Blackburn last week. Anderson's three hits moved him past Nathan Taylor's 156 hits, becoming the program's career leader in hits. Anderson is hitting .338 this season with 25 hits through 19 games.
	The MacMurray baseball team has won four of their last five games, including sweeping Iowa Wesleyan in a doubleheader last week. The Highlanders are now 11-8 overall this season. Their doubleheader against Blackburn for this week has been postponed but they are scheduled to face Webster in a conference series on Saturday in Jacksonville, Ill.
	Principia announced Sedge Southworth will take over as the head coach of the school's men's and women's cross country programs. Southworth, a former cross country athlete at Principia, previously spent two years as an assistant coach with Principia, as well as two coaching stints in high school, and the director of the 100 Elk Outdoor Center. He will be coming to Principia from Loveland, Colorado and is joined by his wife, Laura.
	Anthony Irwin had an impressive outing at the Mount St. Joseph Invite earlier this week, capturing a second place finish. Irwin finished with a two-day score of 150, including a round of 72 on the second day. This marks Irwin's second top-five finish in six events this season. Irwin and the Golden Eagles will be back in action early next week when they compete in the Gorlok Spring Invitational.
	The Webster baseball team picked up a couple of thrilling wins over Greenville last weekend, winning 2-1 and 6-5, with both wins coming in the Gorloks final at-bats. Webster is 11-7 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They will face MacMurray on Saturday in a conference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. in Jacksonville, Illinois.
	Tom O'Donnell has been hired to the coaching staff at Westminster College. O'Donnell will take over head coaching duties for the men's and women's golf programs and also serve as the offensive line coach for the Blue Jays football team. O'Donnell comes to Westminster after most recently working at Lindenwood University-Belleville.
