Iowa Wesleyan Hosts 2017 Special Olympic Spring Games (April 16, 2017)
The Iowa Wesleyan University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the Southeast Iowa Special Olympic Spring Games on April 8.  This was the third consecutive year the event was hosted by SAAC. The Spring Games serve as a qualifying event for the Summer Games, a State competition held in Ames, Iowa.....MORE

SLIAC Women's Tennis Tournament Preview (April 18, 2017)
The 2017 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will hold their annual women's tennis tournament this weekend at Principia High School in St. Louis, Mo. Blackburn College, Fontbonne University, Greenville College, Principia College, Webster University and Westminster College will be competing in the six-team, double elimination format tournament.....MORE

FINAL SLIAC WINTER STANDINGS

AROUND THE SLIAC

	The Blackburn men's golf team placed second in the team standings at the 2017 SLIAC Golf Championship. The second-place finish was the program's best finish at the event since winning the title in 2010. The Beavers finished with a 917 and placed four golfers in the Top 20. Trenton Easley led the way with a 225, placing 4th, while his brother Keegan was 6th with a 229.
	The Eureka baseball team is set to play four conference games this week. The Red Devils are coming off a 9-3 win over Lincoln Christian on Monday. They will play a single conference game against Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday before heading to St. Louis to face Webster in a three-game series that starts on Friday.
	The Fontbonne baseball team broke out the bats last week, scoring double digit in runs in four games last week. The Griffins have scored the third most runs in the conference this season with 203 through 29 games. They have scored double-digit runs in eight games this season and have won the last two SLIAC Hitter of the Week awards.
	The Greenville softball team has enjoyed April, going 6-2 this month to push their record to 15-10 overall this season. The Panthers are set to play three doubleheaders this week beginning with Millikin on Thursday. They will then return to conference play for games against Fontbonne on Friday and Principia on Saturday. Greenville is currently 8-2 in SLIAC play.
	Iowa Wesleyan's Kiley Miller mounted a come from behind win in the SLIAC Golf Championship to become the 2017 SLIAC Individual Champion. Miller, down three strokes at the start of the day and two with four holes to go, shot a final round of 71 to win the title by two strokes. Miller finished with a 220 and is the second Tiger in program history to win the SLIAC Individual Championship.
	MacMurray College junior Cory Steinhart threw a no-hitter last week in a 5-0 win over Robert Morris. Steinhart worked seven innings and allowed just one base runner, a walk. He struck out nine in the game and had a perfect game until the seventh inning when the second batter of the inning reached on a walk.
	Principia College announced the hiring of Pete Paciorek as the new Director of Athletics. Paciorek previously worked with Principia from 2006-11 as the head baseball coach and assistant athletic director. Most recently he has worked with Character Loves Company, an organization he established to make meaningful connections with student-athletes and coaches in order to promote and develop character-building opportunities. 	Spalding University will play host to the 2019 and 2021 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championships. Spalding, along with the Louisville Sports Commission, collaborated to bring the 2016 Championships to Louisville, Ky. The event brought in an estimated economic impact of $2.6 million for the greater Louisville area.
	The Webster golf team won their seventh SLIAC Golf Championship in program history, leading this year's event from start to finish. The Gorloks finished the three-day event with a team score of 897. Their consistency and depth showed as three different golfers lead them for each of the three rounds. Andrew Belsky was named the SLIAC Coach of the Year while Zac Ciesla was named SLIAC Newcomer of the Year.
	For just the second time in conference history, a school has both the SLIAC Male and Female Post-Graduate Scholar recipients in the same school year. This year, Westminster College seniors Glenn Teubner and Andrea Zalis will receive the awards. You can read the full release HERE
