SLIAC Men's Tennis Tournament Preview (April 24, 2017)
The 2017 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament is scheduled for this weekend at Dwight Davis Tennis Center at Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo. The two-day tournament will include Fontbonne University, Greenville College, Principia College, Webster University, and Westminster College. In the case of rain, the tournament is set for King's Point in Belleville, Ill. Principia has won three straight tournaments and 14 overall in program history. Westminster College is the only other SLIAC program to win the tournament title, doing so 12 times including in 2013, the last time.....MORE
Inaugural SLIAC Track and Field Championship This Weekend (April 25, 2017)
After seven years as an invitational, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will recognize track and field athletes this weekend at the conference's inaugural championship event. The 2017 SLIAC Track and Field Championship will be held in Greenville, Ill. and will be split over two days; Friday and Saturday. Friday's events will consist of the triple jump, discus throw, and the 10,000-meter run. The schedule is set for a 4 p.m. start. Saturday will feature the majority of the events and is set for a 10 a.m. start.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

The Blackburn men's golf team continued their strong finish to the season by wrapping up 2017 with a 4th place finish at the Blue Boy Invitational. The Beavers shot a 637 over two rounds and were led by Keegan Easley's 154 and 8th place finish. On the year Trenton Easley led the team with a 77.9 average and three top five finishes while Keegan Easley finished with a 78.8 average. |

Eureka College announced that Steve Thompson will be stepping down as the school's head coach of the women's basketball team to focus on his role as athletic director. Thompson assumed the head coaching role in the spring of 2014 and over three years led the Red Devils to a 45-36 overall record, including a tournament championship this past year. Fontbonne University women's tennis head coach James Hantack became the first coach in program history to be named SLIAC Coach of the Year. Hantack guided the Griffins to a 5-14 overall record this year, going 2-3 in the SLIAC. The Griffins finished 3rd at the SLIAC Tournament, the program's best-ever finish. |

Greenville College will serve as the host of this weekend's SLIAC Track and Field Championship. The men's team won all six of the previous invitationals that were scored with team results and will be looking to capture the title this weekend. The women's team won four invitationals including last year's meet. |

Mike Hampton recently recorded his 600th career win as head coach of the Iowa Wesleyan softball team.Hampton, who has led the Tigers for the past 24 seasons, tallied the career milestone in a non-conference doubleheader against St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Iowa Wesleyan is 14-20 overall this season, 7-9 in the SLIAC, and have won four straight games. |

After dropping an offensive shootout in game one of their doubleheader against Blackburn, the MacMurray softball team responded by out slugging the Beavers in game two for a 15-13 win.The Highlanders put up 10 runs in the sixth inning to propel the team to their first conference win this spring. Ravin Kibbons and Kerrigan Horn paced the team with three hits each with Horn adding four runs batted in. |

Last weekend the Principia College women's tennis team won their second consecutive SLIAC Tournament and the 20th overall in program history. The Panthers, who were undefeated in conference play this season, rolled through the tournament defeating Webster 5-0 in the championship match. The Panthers Paige Cooley took home SLIAC Player of the Year honors. To watch the tournament highlight video click HERE |

Spalding University pitcher Jimi Keating was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Week for April 10-16. Keating, a junior, worked nine scoreless innings in a 1-0 win over Webster University. He struck out 13 and walked just one batter while allowing just four hits in the game. On the season Keating is 10-0 with a 1.40 earned-run average and 99 strikeouts. |

The Webster women's tennis team had nine players earn All-Conference honors.Chelsea Foster, Stephanie Lass, and Madison Watts led the way for the Gorloks with First Team honors in singles. While Monica Behrle, Sara Rice, and Jesse Steffens-Willis picked up honorable mention honors. Fora complete list of the All-Conference winners click HERE |

Amber Tepen broke a pair of Westminster softball program records last week, setting new marks for career runs batted in and career doubles. During Westminster's sweep of Iowa Wesleyan, Tepen tallied her 86th career RBI and her 32nd career double; setting new marks. Tepen is hitting .363 with three home runs and 23 runs batted in this season. |
