Ackerman Takes Over Greenville Athletic Director Duties (May 5, 2017)
Greenville College has announced that Tom Ackerman, Associate Athletic Director and Head Women's Volleyball Coach, has been promoted to the position of Athletic Director in a realignment of leadership in the department.  Current Dean of Athletics and Professional Studies Doug Faulkner is going to reassume responsibilities as Dean of Professional Studies and Professor of Sport Management.....MORE

Panthers, Back to Back SLIAC Softball Titles (May 7, 2017)
One year after becoming the first #4 seed to win the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament, Greenville College took an easier path this spring; picking up back-to-back titles by winning all three games played in the 2017 tournament. The 2017 title is the third SLIAC Softball Tournament Championship in program history as they become the fourth program to win back-to-back championships......MORE

2017 SLIAC Baseball Tournament Preview (May 9, 2017)
The 2016-17 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sports season will come to a close this weekend with the 2017 SLIAC Baseball Tournament. Greenville College, Spalding University, Webster University, and Westminster College will take the field looking to capture the final conference championship of the year.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn junior outfielder Daniele Burnell was named to the 2017 SLIAC All-Conference team. Burnell, from Lapel, Indiana, was named to the First Team after hitting .435 during conference play with two home runs and 16 runs batted in. Overall this season she hit .432 with three home runs and 33 RBI. She totaled 12 doubles and 26 runs scored this year with a .509 on-base percentage.
Eureka College volleyball head coach Becca Idell announced dates for a trio of volleyball camps. The first date, from June 12-15, will be a youth camp and all-skills camp. The second camp will consist of strength and skills sessions on June 24. The third camp will be an elite camp on July 17-20. For more information on the camps click HERE
Fontbonne's Ethan Borrowman, a senior outfielder on the Griffins baseball team, was named CoSDIA Academic All-District. Borrowman, a computer science major, is just the second Grifin to earn the honor. Borrowman holds a 3.96 grade point average and is the student speaker at the commencement ceremony for Fontbonne University.
Grenville College will once again serve as host of the SLIAC Baseball Tournament. This marks the third straight year they have hosted the tournament. The tournament runs from Thursday until Saturday and is a double-elimination format. For a complete schedule and more information on this year's tournament click HERE

Iowa Wesleyan's Jaimie Hurd received the Lori Wright Women's Basketball Award. The award was created in 2012 and is given annually to a senior women's basketball player that exhibits athletic ability, leadership skills, and academic excellence. Hurd was a two-year member of the Tigers basketball team, serving as a team captain this past season. She earned SLIAC All-Defensive Team honors this year, as well as being named Academic All-Conference and USCAA National All-Academic.

A total of 14 student-athletes from MacMurray College were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Society. The membership is presented to students achieving a 3.4 GPA while also being a member of an athletic team. Those inducted were Nick Balkenbusch, Marshall Corbin, London Gulley, Collin Hopkins, Trevor Knipe, Elizabeth Krummelbein, Jacob Lee, Nathan Luft, Ryan Meddows, Christoper Pakeltis, Riley Spencer, Cydny Saxer, Cory Steinhart, and Danny Willliams.

The Principia men's tennis team swept the 2017 SLIAC individual awards. Jules Kitchingman was named the SLIAC Player of the Year after going a perfect 4-0 in singles play during conference action. Greg Sovie was named the SLIAC Newcomer of the Year, recording seven combined conference wins. Panther head coach Rusty Jones was named the SLIAC Coach of the Year after guiding the program to an undefeated conference record this past spring including the 2017 SLIAC Tournament title.

The Spalding baseball team had three players named CoSIDA Academic All-District. Earning the honors this year were Matt Harper, Jimi Keating, and Kyle Olliges. Harper is pursuing a double a major in Accounting and Business Administration. Keating is majoring in Natural Science while Olliges is majoring in Health Science. Spalding tied with MIT and Texas Lutheran with the most student-athletes on this year's team, three.

Webster baseball senior Kyle Uhrich accomplished a rare feat, earning the SLIAC Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards in the same week. While players have won both awards before, Uhrich is the first to do so in the same week since at least 2007. Uhrich hit .500 with four runs batted in last week at the plate and added a complete game nine inning shutout win with nine strikeouts on the mound.
James Arnold has been announced as the new head coach of the Westminster women's basketball program. Arnold joins the Blue Jays after previously served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Southeast Missouri State University. Prior to SEMO, Arnold has spent time with Central Methodist, Highland Community College, and North Central Missouri College. For the full release click HERE
