Spalding's Yates Earns 400th Career Win (October 22, 2016)
The Spalding University volleyball team clinched a berth in the 2016 SLIAC Tournament sweeping Iowa Wesleyan, 25-12, 27-25, 26-24. The win marked a major milestone, Head Coach Bridget Yates earned her 400th career win while at the helm of the Golden Eagles.....MORE
SLIAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship Preview (October 25, 2016)
The 2016 SLIAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship is set for this weekend on Saturday, October 29th at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Eight conference institutions will be sending their student-athletes to compete in the 27th Cross Country Championship in conference history.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

The Blackburn men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory over Principia on Senior Night. The only goal of the game came off the foot of Lucas Rinderer at the 31-minute mark. Jordan Greene stopped all three shots he faced in net for the Beavers in picking up the shutout victory. Blackburn outshot Principia 15-7 in the game and improves to 6-7-3 overall this season. They will close out the regular season with back to back road games when they face Webster on Thursday and Greenville on Saturday. |

The Eureka men's and women's soccer teams will close out their 2016 regular seasons against Webster on Saturday. The men's team is 7-8-2 on the year and will be searching to finish the year at .500 while the women's team is currently 1-13-1 overall. The women's game will start at 1 p.m. while the men will kick at 3 p.m. |

The Fontbonne men's soccer team will be looking to secure a spot into the SLIAC Tournament this weekend. The Griffins need a win in their final game, against Principia on Saturday, to guarantee a postseason bid. They are currently 7-10-1 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Griffins are currently in third place in the standings but have just a one game lead on three other teams still battling for a tournament spot. |

Although they have been eliminated from postseason contention, the Greenville women's soccer team has been playing their best ball the last two weeks. The Panthers have won two straight games, outscoring their opponents 21-0, and three of their last four. The Panthers will try and continue that success and go into the off-season on a high note when they host Blackburn on Saturday at 5 p.m. |

The Iowa Wesleyan men's soccer team recorded their second conference win of the season yesterday, with a 4-1 victory over MacMurray. Iowa Wesleyan tallied the opening goal at the 23-minute mark when Maxwell Trautmann found the back of the net. The Tigers then exploded for three goals in the final 10-minutes of the game with Ronaldo Olaya scoring twice and Jonathon Armador adding a goal. Iowa Wesleyan is now 5-13-1 overall and close out their season on Saturday against Spalding. |

MacMurray College junior Brent Long was named to the DIII News Preseason All-American list. Long, a center on the Highlander basketball team, is back after averaging 20.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game last season while helping the Highlanders win a share of the SLIAC regular season title. Long led the SLIAC in field goal percentage (.635) and reached double figures in scoring in all but one game last year. |

The Principia women's soccer team is still battling for a berth into the SLIAC Tournament. The Panthers are tied with Westminster for the fourth and final playoff spot with a 5-3 conference mark. Principia will take a two game winning streak into their final regular season game, a contest against Fontbonne on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Panthers kept their hopes alive with a thrilling 3-2 double overtime win on Monday night against Eureka with Clarice Bruch netting the game-winner. |

The Spalding men's soccer team clinched the programs first ever SLIAC regular season title on Tuesday night with a 1-0 overtime win over Webster. Spalding is now 8-0 in conference play and carry a nine game winning streak into their final regular season game where they will look to secure an undefeated conference record when they host Iowa Wesleyan. |

The Webster volleyball team will embark on a busy few days with five matches over the next four days. The Gorloks are at Fontbonne Wednesday night before traveling to Rock Island, Ill. to compete in the Augustana Tournament this weekend. While there the Gorloks will face Iowa Wesleyan, Dubuque, Coe, and Simpson. Webster is currently 16-9 overall and 11-4 in the SLIAC. They have already secured a spot into the SLIAC Volleyball Tournament. |

Andrea Zalis, a senior guard on the Westminster women's basketball team, was named to the DIII News Preseason All-American team. Zalis averaged 14.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last year and helped the Blue Jays win the SLIAC regular season championship. Zalis was 6th in the conference in three-point percentage and 4th in free-throw percentage. She also finished fourth in the league with 27 blocked shots and added 39 steals. |
